So is the DS harming everything else in Japan, kind of like Halo 3 in the US?

What is Halo 3 harming? I didn't notice anything wrong about other games'/consoles' sales lately.

I can't believe that no one here has gone back and compared first day sales to first week sales for many nintendo titles like this... looking at the percentage weight on average of Nintendo games on the first day...

Sorry but 200 - 300k is too low it will go higher than that...

Good samples of first day to first week increases would be Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8 and all other Nintendo titles.

Anyone know where we can get this info from?

LOL , so many people have posted and not a single one have managed to understand the article. Super Mario Galaxy has already sold 830.000 games by day one since 700.000 WERE ALREADY SOLD BEFORE ITS RELEASE. So it has sold by day one in Japan as much as Mario Sunshine for gamecube has sold in its lifespan. There, pretty lame for a day one right? Only 130.000 by day one right? That's because 700.000 have bought it before day one. That makes it only a little below a million by day one. Now go on , say how pathetic the sales are, lol.

Er... i'm sure if you had read the thread, you would realise that 700k were RETAILER preorders, not consumer

I'd say over 500k would be about right for first week.

Correct me if i am wrong but 700.000 retail preorders are made for consumers that asked for it from their store, and not for shelves. Same thing as they didn't preordered it directly from nintendo but from their store, what's the difference really? I don't think that 130.000 are all the consumers preorders + first day sales from the shelves of the stores. It is clearly just first day sells from the shelves of the stores. And you are talking with a guy that is considering to preorder it in Europe, and i haven't preordered any game till now in my life and i am an adult for god sake.

Either way wait until the end of the week, and if i am wrong and it doesn't sell at least 750.000, call me stupid and make fun of me all you want. Or even better create a thread and laugh with me all you want, i am that certain about it.

Y-koron why didn't you post this in the news section?

I just wanted you to get the data up as soon as possible.

Sorry to late. I have some trouble that I can't post to the news section yesterday (There isn't "Submit News" in Toolbar...)...

But it is recovered. So from now, I post to News Section this data with some infos.

If you need something about Japanese market from the perspective of Japanese, please contact me.

I read somewhere that Jpanese gamers were worried about motion sickness from playing galaxy, maybe that might have something to do with the first day sales being weak, if so, we may have to wait a few weeks to see whether it is just a result of concerns about the game or whether it is a sign of a sea change in the market
