Forums - Nintendo Discussion - FFCC: The Crystal Bearers may have a ~30k NA debut. Bomb?

I agree that the pre-orders aren't impressive at all, but a wise man never calls bomb without at least a month of data.

not to mention this is a 15hour game. Not a real final fantasy. no one really wants it that bad.

^^^ Confused, how do you know its 15 hours long? Hard to judge a game's length that no one has gotten to play yet. Seems like pure random speculation.

People wants a FF real game, not a Spin-Off that is worse in quality that others games that you can find in the market like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Modern Warfare Reflex, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Punch-Out, RE DarkSide Chronicles. In other words, Crystal Bearers has got a few tough rivals in the battle for consumer acceptance.

You've already pegged it as worse in quality and you haven't even played it. The Crystal Chronicles series has had success before. Based on the trailers it seems like a high quality game for the Wii as well.

And why are you using RE:DC as an example of quality? That game is a fine example of "a Spin-Off that is worse in quality." I imagine Crystal Bearers will have more entertainment value than a rail shooter.

This is just another example of how unpredictable the Wii userbase can be. It may not be the Final Fantasy the masses desire, but these numbers so far are extraordinarily low for the series.

This thread is filled with shit trolling really. People who either want something out of a series that was never meant to be, or have some demented idea of what the series was. The crux of the matter is, this is a GOOD game, so it deserves to sell. Whether you like it or not.

I wish there was actually going to be promotion for this. I mean what about bringing the bon jovi advertisements over here, the guy IS from NJ...

I wouldn't get my hopes up for real commercials and promotion, 3rd parties avoid that stuff like the plague on Wii games.

And with the Wii, even that's not enough time.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

That's a great idea. Bon Jovi's huge all over the world, especially in the USA. If he is the one promoting the game the game's sales may pick up and grow.

Bolded; that remains to be seen, we still don't know how western audiences will respond to it, let alone western reviewers.

Italic; games don't sell what they deserve, they sell what they sell based on demand, advertising and overall appeal. Liking it or not has no effect on this what so ever. Plenty of good games sell poorly or average. I feel that Valkyria Chronicles is an incredibly good game and most reviewers feel the same way but its still failing to move in big numbers.

PS: For the record, I think it'll do decent numbers once its out. Won't have the same kinda legs as a first party Wii title but I can easily see 7-800k lifetime. It will depend on advertising and some good old actual appeal though.
