all i can say is "wow".
Are ISP companies really this misinformed?

It takes all kinds, I guess, but really, who is the culprit here? I think we all know the answer to that.

What's misinformed about it?

They don't want people using massive amounts of bandwith by hosting shit.

It's a IW that was uninformed.

I mean there is a reason why pretty much all dedicated servers for most games are purchased from buisnesses and not run from the home.

One of the letters said "PC games don't use p2p". That has been false for a few years now.

But yeah, I agree. IW is at fault, as I was trying to imply.

It hasn't been false. PC games haven't used P2P until now.

Well... Borderlands does.

Though Borderlands is a 4 person affair.  Not exactly the kind of bandwith that will cause you to run afoul anti-server bandwith deals like 18 player would.

Yea, but he said for a few years. I seem not to be able to count out even 5 big games that did in the past few years.

I just think its part of the MW2 mis-information due to all the rage going on about dedicated servers.  Like someone said early in the post that PS3 and xbox both do Peer 2 Peer and no one has problems liek this before.

If you do get cut off and you think its due to MW2, take legal action against your ISP and im sure most of them won't because their torret.

PC gaming rules.....

I thought most countries (intenet companies) would have unlimited bandwith for their customers.

They can't take legal action against their ISP. In an earlier thread I outlined that most ISPs do not allow a server to be run on normal consumer networks.

LOL. I guess these ISPs would have an issue with all the Halo 1/2 and CoD MW 1 on consoles. Interesting I have never heard of ISP issues with P2P online gaming before now.

EDIT: Damn, in the span of like 2 minutes several people said the same thing.

I don't know where all these complaints are from, at least one of them is not from an english speaking country, as shown. So maybe people there don't even bother with consoles.

I hate Infinity Ward as much as the next guy, but can someone clarify why this is suddenly an issue when Xbox and Playstation have followed this hosting model for years now?

Here's a video from my band's last show Check out more (bigger) videos here http://www.youtube.com/user/icemanout

it's NOT peer-2-peer.

but I don't know which ports the data goes through, but it's obviously not 80 (common HTTP port, which is usually blocked), so they will obviously say it's P2P because in the end it doesn't really matter and that's the most common bandwidth abuse.
