2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

My Fanboy Speech...

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

Hmmm,I think everyone overrates GTAIV,everything that was surreal and fun about the GTA games in the sixth generation has been replaced by a cold realistic gritty world in the new game.

I would say Playstation 3.

The Uncharted series is by far one of the best gaming series ever made. And the online gameplay for Uncharted 2 is superb. The loading times are shit. But the gameplay is there and that's what counts.

Little Big Planet's controls kinda put me off it to,but it's a nice game if your coming from Ninty background, just to ease you in to the HD world of gaming. There's nothing like it on 360 from what I've seen.

Next year see's the international release of Final Fantasy XIII which simply has to be purchased on a Playstation console, and FF Versus XIII is still an exclusive game to the PS3.

The Last Guardian looks to be one of the most cinematic and artistic games of this generation,as does Heavy Rain, you may want a PS3 to check them out.

On the other hand, the 360 has Natal next year.Which could be good for some people. My personal opinion is that motion controls like the Wiimote and shitaxis and all future planned ones be abolished, but people like them I guess.

The 360 has a bigger community online.Barely these days, that doesn't make it better in my opinion.I find the quality excellent on both consoles.

The Fable series looks to be one of only a few reasons I would suggest to you to get a 360.

But on the whole I think you'll find you'll get more out of a PS3 in the long run.

But aussie prices are daylight robbery :O $500 :O

If your game preferences are educated and you've played many games and those are what you liked the most (Fable, GTA, no Sony exclusives) then go with a 360. If you havent played many games and from what you've played those happened to be what you enjoyed then get a PS3 and experience all it has to offer.

if i where you i would go ps3 because it has a media centre built in... also it has great games on it... but u can go 360 because it has the most games out of the 3 consoles

I'd go for PS3, the 360 is a scam.

Even as a REALLY BIG fan of the 360, I have trouble these days recommending a 360 over the PS3. You can't use the "360 is cheaper" argument anymore. (you really couldn't before either) The 360 and PS3 out of the box are the same price, but with the 360 you are going to pay a lot more money if you want rechargeable controllers, wi fi connectivity, and online play. So the 360 will nickel and dime you a bit after you buy it. I will sya that even though it does not have a BluRay player built in, the new Zune Marketplace literally has the capability to give you BluRay quality HD movies if you have a decent internet connection. But to echo jefforange89's comment, the 360 can be a bit of a "scam" when you think about all the stuff you have to pay extra for it to do.

The PS3's library has gone from ok to awesome in the last year and a half and has a lot of good stuff (yes, these titles even have release windows announced for once!) coming out in the next 3 to 5 months as well. And you won't be wanting for things to play in the meantime. Little Big Planet, Uncharted 1 and 2, Demon's Souls, Killzone 2 etc. are all awesome games. Plus, everything you need to get going is right there in the box. There's not even an external power supply to worry about and you don't pay a dime to play online. The Sixaxis controllers are rechargeable. (The only drawback is that I don't think there's a very good way of replacing their batteries on your own.)

Both consoles are great. I love them both and give both about equal play time. HOWEVER, do not let anyone tell you they are the same price. In the end, the PS3 is actually cheaper.

Just fyi: F1 is published by Sony. You're not going to see it on the 360, to my knowledge.

There's been a F1 release for the PS3, it just didn't make a huge splash. Most people thought it was "too technical", and thus didn't appeal to the typical gamer.

F1 is also outrageously expensive and hard to find, even used, because it was only printed in small numbers, I think.  Look for "F1 PS3" on Amazon (or whereever), and you'll see what I mean.

Based on what you Said , 360 .

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

I'm not going to recommend what you get. I'm just going to say what kept me in the Sony camp:

- Free online: I'm not a big online gamer, but with the online gaming I do I don't want to pay extra for it. So far the only online "gaming" I've done on PS3 is LBP and Buzz. When close friends and family finally get round to getting PS3s I'll probably do more online, but not a lot. Epic single player games is where I'm at. I've also bought PSN games and downloaded a fair number of demos, and I appreciate being able to do that without having to pay for the privilege. And I've surfed the web a bit too, but that's not really something on which to base a buying decision, because the web browser is nothing special.

- Style: Yep, I like the look of the PS3 (phat in my case, but slim too, but I like phat better than slim) more than the 360. It's not a major factor but it is part of the whole picture for me.

- Blu-ray movies: it's not part of your criteria, but as I said I am giving you what helped me decide I have to include this.

- Exclusive games: There are some 360 console exclusive games I'd like to play, and just because most are also on PC doesn't mean I'm interested in playing them on PC, and I probably won't play them on PC because. there are enough PC exclusive games I want to play that looking at PC/360 games doesn't reallty feature. But the 360 exclusives I'm interested in (Mass Effect being the primary one) didn't make me salivate as much as the PS3 exclusive titles. Mostly because they are some of my favourite franchises (Ratchet and Clank comes immediately to mind, also Buzz is a family favourite), but also the new entrants on PS3 really got me excited: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Valkyria Chronicles were 2 games I knew I needed to play and there was only one way I was going to get to play them. For me Valkyria Chronicles alone was worth the price of admission. LBP has also been a real hit in my house. On the day I bought my PS3 I got UC:DF, R&C tools of destruction, Valkyria Chronicles, Infamous (bundled) and LBP, and my sister got me Buzz Quiz TV (she likes playing Buzz too), how many of those games are available on 360 or PC? None. What was I supposed to do? I've played them all and I like them all. I now also own a few multiplats, but honestly my console game collection looks like it's going to be heavily dominated by exclusives simply because the exclusive titles are the ones that really get me excited.

- Gnu-Linux install option: Yeah I was duped a little bit by this. I still plan to give it a go but it seems there aren't any distros that work really well on the PS3. But it was part of my buying decision, and I'm going for full disclosure. Also not an option for slim, so you can ignore this reason.

- PS2 b/c: I still live in hope that a FW update will bring back PS2 b/c. If they can do it with PSP (which they are doing with the next FW update) then it can be done with PS2. However I also accept it may never happen. Again full disclosure means I need to inform you of my delusions, as well as my solid reasons.

- History: I had a PS1 and a PS2, so my natural preference was for a PS3.

In the end it's the exclusive games that made the decision for me, the rest is peripheral.

I say go for the 360. You said that you do not care for online. So you also really won't need a hard drive. It also has the exclusive GTA4 DLC, and it is going to get two Fables this gen

Hey, hey, hey! How can you, with that avatar and sig, NOT recommend him the console which will have the BEST HD Old-school Zelda-style game?!?! Yes I am talking about 3D Dot Game Heroes ^^

and ye, OP, get a PS3. it's cheaper than the 360 and you don't have to buy a lot of overpriced stuff (controller batteries, wi-fi, MS HDD, LIVE), and the games library is filled with more quality and diversity, which include more than just guns and/or aliens like on the 360. based on what you said however, a 360 would be best i guess.
