Forums - Sony Discussion - Yahoo!: Don't buy a PS3 for Christmas because of dead battery.

Even if the battery went toast you could still use the controller if it was plugged in as you are just stealing juice from the system.

Who goes to Yahoo?

He is right though.  The PS3 controller is rechargable... but it doesn't keep it's charge indefinitetly.

This article is really bad. You can tell that the person who wrote the article has never actually used a PS3 or none of the devices listed, she's only based it on what she's heard because before you can actually use a PS3 for the first time, you have to connect the controller to the PS3 via USB. Anybody with common sense would realise that it's the charger cable.

Even if the battery did conk out, it would take years for that to happen, I personally think the controller will be so worn out before the battery dies that you would probably have to buy a new controller anyway.

You can literally charge the PS3 on any PC and use it while it's connect as well. Plus you can buy replacement/longer cables for chicken change. People talk about the 360 coming with a 10 ft cable. It doesn't come with the cable, you have to pay for it, and the battery that comes with the play and charge kit  is apparently 'NiMH'. If so, wouldn't it have less of a life than the lithium ones in the PS3 anyway? So you're more likey to replace you 360 battery than your PS3 one.

And the dumbness award of the year goes to............Anne "dies battery" Kadet!!!!!

it is a random "outside" guy that put it on their site ? or do they have put it intentionnaly ?

I m sure they have approved it.
If approvement was not needed then everybody could every BS possible !

Time to Work !

Shit really??? I thought controllers were for one-use only

u can recharge them??? for real??

Yahoo? What do they know...they are the bottom biatch of Google in every way. Also...what the hell? Everything has a failure point...no equipment is going to have all units 100% reliable. There is a failure tolerance on every unit to make it mass produced. For Dualshock 3...the percentage of failed controller batteries is probably less than 0.0001%, which is pretty fucken good Yahoo you shitheads.

That's about as likely as me playing by somebody elses rules, which I would never do. I only play by my own rules, nobody elses...not even my own.

AFAIK they have agreements with certain sites to re-host their content. Yahoo has lots of agreements like this, they archive stuff from other sites.

Smartmoney.com is not any random site, it's actually related to the Wall Street Journal.

The article probably has a point and dismissing it is wrong. Rechargeable Batteries die after so many uses, and age, able to hold their charge for shorter and shorter periods of time.

CMOS batteries are generally good for over 7 years at least. This is a problem with the iPOD. How long the PS3 controllers is good for, probably start noticing a problem after 4 years, but could be 7 or 8 before they don't hold any decent charge.
