In celebration of the Red Dawn 2010 remake, I thought I would pose this question to the VGC international community. This post is mostly poised towards non-US citizens.
In the movie Red Dawn (if you haven't seen it, nor heard of the remake) another superpower country (USSR in the original, China in the remake) invades America, and uses brutal tactics to subjugate the population. The said invader then sets out to an extensive ground war on US soil while the rest of the world.
So here is the question:
In a hypothetical scenario to where the United States was invaded, would you want your country comitting forces to help defend America?
No country since the revolutionary war has comitted troops to the United States of America, while we have comitted troops to many wars since then - how would you feel if the inverse was true? Satisfaction with the United States may not be at an all time low since Obama came into office, but how would you feel about your nation defending America?
Just a curious scenario. Only two decades ago, it would have been a no-brainer question to ask if Americans would dedicate troops to Europe in the case of a Soviet-European war. I am just wondering about attitudes 20 years later.
Really looking forward to a lively, hypothetical discussion.
If your interested in the original Red Dawn:
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
