Here is my totally unbiased critique on this piece.
First of all, this is the first time that Surly was blatantly making fun of xbox/fan behavior. Thinking back to some of his other articles, it's possible that he's been doing this the entire time, but was just really really stealthy about it.
What's hard to discern is whether he is a fanboy himself, or just playing the sides against each other. I prefer to think the latter as he was quoted as saying "I don’t think that argument would have gotten as hilariously ridiculous if my article hadn’t stoked the fanboy fires."
So, from this standpoint, I see him as a neutral writer. But that's exactly what makes this article fail so hard.
He has gotten so skilled at stealth trolling sony related things that it just makes this anti-xbox article over the top and far too obvious. Additionally, he's used achievements as a reason before and it's getting BLATANTLY repetitive.
In summation, this article was just weak compared to his past articles. It shows that he really has no believable reasons why the xbox version will not be as good.
While I appreciate this attempt to prove that he isn't an xbot, it was missing some edge, and the jokes just weren't working for me.
