Forums - Gaming Discussion - Predictions: great games

How many great exclusive games (average rating 9-> in gamerankings) do you think will hit this year on each console? My suggestions: 3 on Wii: Super Mario Galaxy Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles There are also rumours of some superinnovative games on the pipeline for the Wii, but I think they're going to be killer apps for the casual players and receive ratings of ~8. 3 on 360: Halo 3 Bioshock Mass Effect 3 on PS3: Lair Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Heavenly Sword I think it quite surprising that there's no great exclusives on PS3 at this point, altough Resistance is quite close. And review wise, Wii doesn't shine at all. Will great games with depth boost Wii's popularity or are the consumers attracted only with simplicity?

Super Smash Brawl will sell very well, but its not really 9+ game so I understand why its not on the list. Does not seem right about Ratchet&Clank is it going to be realesed 2007? Have not heard much about this game.

Ratchet & Clank is a fall 2007 game according to Wikipedia. As for the Smash Bros, I agree with you.

Well, Super Smash Bros. Melee recieved an average of 90.0% on the Gamecube so it is possible that it could get 90% or higher ... Anyways, I am getting the impression more and more that game reviewers are out of touch with a large (and growing) portion of the gaming public. Look at the average reviews on the Nintendo DS and you'll notice that a lot of games that have sold very well (and been credited with expanding the game market) have recieved pretty poor reviews.

Yeah, this elitization happens with every area of culture because the critics are the more conservative the older the type of culture is. It has happened in literature, music, fine arts and movies. However, I usually agree with critics and I look past numbers to see if there's something interesting. I don't think the Smash Bros. Brawl is going 9+. The developer has stated that the Wiimote control system was hard to make and adviced not to get rid of GC controllers. The game will be like the 6 years old Melee in almost every aspect and that's not a good thing.

what about Mysims and Wiihealth ??

I'm guessing MySims will be a 8+ game, although I originally added it to the list, and Wii Health maybe 7+. Wii music, Wii health and MySims have the potential of becoming system sellers though. Btw. have you heard of Habbo Hotel? I think MySims is largely affected by it. Here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habbo_Hotel From Finland of course, just as Alan Wake and other stellar games

I highly doubt that Alan Wake will make it out this year. Other than that, your list seems pretty good (not so sure about Lair though) As for the handhelds, I have no idea aside from Zelda: Phantom hour glass and Pokemon on the DS

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Yeah, I thought Alan Wake was now an '08 title. Bioshock should get great reviews, but I doubt it will sell

Who's to say Brawl won't get a 9 or higher? My prediction is that it might not...but nobody knows anything about the game yet, so who knows.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
