Forums - Sales Discussion - Got duped by the .99!

I've always hated the x9.99 pricing strategy. It really gets on my nerves sometimes.

Anyway, my brother went to my local game store today very near his house to buy Ratchet and Clank, with just exactly 37 quib in his pocket. The game was priced 37.99 so he had to go back. He just completely forgot about the .99!

Anyone wishing we could just get solid amounts on products? why don't they just say 38 and be done with it!

Sooo you're bother is too stupid to actually look at the whole price tag then? :-p

I don't really care that much since the one extra penny still won't make it even and I only *very* rarely carry cash.

Because 37.99 looks like a smaller amount than 38. Take the time to read the entire price and it shouldn't be a problem.

So he thought something was $37 and went to the store with $37?

What about tax? Seems he would have had to go back anyways.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Europeans have this stupid law where the price advertised already includes tax.

And by "stupid" I mean "why the !@#* don't we have that too?!

^ You could be right. I honestly have no clue though since I live in the US.

If true that just totally shut down my previous post.

Fast foot places in United States are now pushing $5 deals. Arby's decided it would go with $5.01 stating they were .01 better than everyone else.

People are so used to .99 in U.S markets that an even dollar amount stands out.

Wal-mart would have had it for $37.96, and I have actually heard people say "It's cheaper at Wal-Mart!" which I guess is literally true, but come on. . .
