"Most games in Japan sell 2/3 of first week numbers in first day.'
statement.

I`m not impressed with 1 days sales for this Big game and i don`t think it`s going to sell close to 1M first week either.
Also, Wii is not DS.

@johnsobas, this topic is about first day sales, not about game legs.
I stated my opinion about 1st day sales of NSMW. I was expecting something like 600-700 due to preorders.

The other question is for you, how many new games on Wii in Japan since August outperformed people expectations in terms of sales?

Did you know that NSMB for the DS opened with 480k first day? Care to guess the first week? Hint: it is more than 1.5 times the first day. It is, infact, close to doubled the first day sales. I can understand where you might not have seen thesource post. I mean it was just a few right before yours in this very thread. Wait, that wouldn't be hard to miss at all!

I don't think you understand, it had almost the exact first day sales as NSMB DS, how much has the DS version sold so far?

well then you were wrong then, you're gonna have a hard time finding someone that knows about sales to say FF13 and NSMBwii would have similar first day numbers.  ioi and source were spot on, first day sales were pretty much right where most people were expecting.  We've been talking about the 700k-1 million range for first week for quite some time.  If it follows NSMB DS it will reach 900k.

So you think New Super Mario Bros Wii will not share a sales pattern with New Super Mario Bros, but instead will follow other games? That is one of the strangest, and worst predictions I have ever heard. You do realize that similar games follow similar sales patterns regardless of platform right? RPGs will always sell significantly less second week than first, and will always rely on big first day sales, for example. The market is very predictable like that.

Also, what does the performance of Wii games since August have to do with anything related to this topic?

You do realize that next week NSMB Wii will continue to sell at a high level, while FF13 will drop off really, really far after its first week

So NSMB:Wii would have to sell 42% - 65% more than NSMB:DS to be impressive. Mmm.
