Forums - General Discussion - The Official World Cup 2010 Draw Thread - December 4th at 17 GMT

On paper England would most likely top Group C, but USA beat Spain in the Confederations cup and Algeria could surprise like Senegal in 2002 so try to be level headed England fans.

Are African teams playing crap or did I miss something? They are going to be very difficult in my opinion, should keep an eye on them. South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana are serious candidates to reach the second round.

^^ Serbia's group is one of the most difficult, actually.

Groups D, E and G are the most difficult. Groups B and C are the easiest. We (USA) are in the weakest group and that was awesome to hear. Zexen I'm sure is pleased that Argentina can whip Greece again.

England got 3 fairly easy teams

To bad they're not to strong themselves.

Should be fun to see who wins the right to be eliminated in the next round in the group.

Lots of very weak nations in this years cup (Japan, South Africa, NZ, Australia, USA, Chile, N Korea, Switzerland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Honduras, Algeria). And the African nations haven't got much stronger since Cameroon surprised everyone in 1990.

I hope Denmark will get far.

Yeah, because a very weak nation ends second in the south american qualifiers(over Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina), has the top scorer(Suazo) and best results away from home.

Its strange that a very weak team could beat Denmark in their home right?

I hope you're not talking about Honduras lol?

EDIT: Oh Chile. Well, they're decent but I don't believe they will qualify from the group.

Wha? Chile has 2nd place totally assured, and they'll fight the 1st with Spain in a very contested match, that I'll be sure to watch

What I don't really like is the fact that there are no stand-out matches. Contests you really have to see because it will be an awesome display due to the countries involved. Portugal-Brazil and Italy-Paraguay are the only ones that seem interesting to me outside of my own nations plays.

By the way, I'm not claiming that some matches won't be hectic, I'm sure there will be intense plays but from the first look of things it is not all that even from the get-go. Perhaps due to a severe lack of a real "group of death".
