Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New Super Mario Bros. Wii's JP release is here. Potential impact?

It baffles me that they didn't do some kind of bundle with this game in Japan. They didn't did they?

I'm not sure if FFXIII is going to be as big of a system mover.

simply check what previous FF series did if anyone is 'not sure'

  ff12 gave only about a 40K rise

FF10 gave a 75K rise

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I didn't mean just one week. Of course FFXIII will have a boost at first. I mean long term.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I'm thinking a bundle may come later like with NSMB DS

Perhaps you are right but I would have thought the bundle would have the greatest impact around the time of the game's release.

I like that DS bundle, I've bought it for my brother for Christmas, his DS Phat is looking rather worse for wear these days. I think the Wii would look sweet in red, with a white stand and maybe just a mushroom on the side.

^I'd love to see a Famicom colored Wii, with NSMB Wii, would bring back the nostalgia

The wii should d over 100k I think.

Between 98k and 110k.
I do think FFXIII will boost PS3 more first week than NSMBWii will boost Wii first week, but Wii will get a longer boost than PS3.

FF13 boost will be a 3 week fad-boost.

The wii won't reach 100k according to my sixth sense.

True but japan seems weird these days (er...know what I mean?)...a lot of the games that were very successful there in the past seem to only appeal to a smaller niche market these days, esp on home consoles.
