Forums - Sales Discussion - What if Alan Wake and Heavy Rain would flop totaly in sales?

Genre:Interactive drama

Genre: psychological thriller.

Its pretty much 50/50 are these 2 games HUGE or FLOP...We can't expect them to sell X ammount since they are both something new to gaming.

Many could think Alan Wake will do same as Max Payne since its made by Remedy..

Quantic Dream however haven't released any high profile games.

Both has amazing graphics, but graphics doesn't sell games anymore like it used to.

While Heavy Rain and Alan Wake can start something amazing to our gaming,if they would flop in sales we could kiss those dreams goodbye.

Alan Wake isn't really trying anything that's genre-defining, it'll do fine.

Heavy Rain is trying something radically different from other games, so if it doesn't gel with gamers, it'll tank hard.

Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

I'm not expecting much from either. I'd be happy if they both get over the million mark LTD

I think Alan Wake has a shot to sell significantly more than 1 million, because of the developer Remedy is quite popular. Other than that it seems that MS is pushing Alan Wake more than Sony does with Heavy Rain.

I hope both sell well. From what we have seen, they truly deserve this.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Hmm, I actually think both will sell relatively poorly (by poorly I mean around 1 million and not much more). Alan Wake has a broader appeal though and stands the least chance of flopping imo. Then again, Heavy Rain has a tremendous hype pent up under it.
Heavy Rain will rely more on the reviews I think!

it's not 50/50.

These games, no matter the marketing they receive, will not make it to a million within 2 years. I'm staking my soul and shroom-taking habits on it.

In other words, if either game makes it to a million before the 2 year mark, I'll stop taking shrooms. Any bet takers??

Heavy Rain WILL flop, it's boring and tedious. If I want to watch movie, I'll go and watch some, what's the deal?

As for Alan Wake, I think MS will do great marketing to support this title, so it'll do more or less fine.

A hyped 360 exclusive not making it to 1 million? I'll take that bet. If Perfect Dark Zero can do it, Alan Wake can.

I would have to say 1 million for eash is a strong possibility. Sony has said mulitple times this is a big game for them, so I expect a bigger than normal advertising campaign. And with that it should sell around 1 million.

Alan Wake should do fine as well, I expect Microsoft to advertise this game as well, it is one of the big exclusive games they have. So I also expect it to hit 1 million.

I do think Alan Wake will have an easier time getting to 1 million but I still think that Heavy Rain can do it

Can you interact with the movie, have an affect on the plot? I don't think so...

@Topic

I think Heavy Rain won't be profitably, it looks very expensive and I don't it will sell much more than a million.
