I'm not really in the mood for counting all over again but anyone is welcome to do it and tell me the results

Though I could not possibly live without 2d Mario, I will stick with 3d just because I think it has a lot of potential to show us many things we haven't seen yet and because it's what can be improved the most.

NSMB>Galaxy any day. I like Galaxy's music but the Wii mote waggle ruined it for me. Mario isn't meant for motion controls. I actually like Sunshine better than Galaxy because it CONTROLS like a Mario should.

The best 2D Mario is Mario 3. The best 3d Mario is Mario 64.

Although Galaxy has the best soundtrack, NSMB is the best game. But Super Mario 3 is better than both!

SMG 1 & 2 are far superior to NSMB. But, my favourite Mario games are Super Mario World 1 and 2, so I would have to go with the 2D ones, if I had to choose.

While fun to play, NSMB Wii was a step backwards from the SNES platformers. It simply doesn't offer the same level of depth, replayability or creativity. The world map from Super Mario World was genius, and it's strange that Nintendo haven't repeated it since. It was packed with secret areas, and finding all the exits was incredibly satisfying.

Nintendo didn't put half at much effort into NSMB Wii as Retro did with Donkey Kong Country Returns.

The overall polish in 3D Mario games make them harder to wait for. If Nintendo can make more 2D Mario games like Yoshi Island Super Mario World 2 then I would change my answer.

I'd have to stick with 3D Mario games. Super Mario 64 was one of my first games ever played, and it's also one of my all-time favorites. To this day, I have yet to play a 3D Mario title I didn't like (that doesn't mean I don't like the 2D Mario's as well, but they just don't have that 'magic' for me, so to speak), and I'd be rather sad to lose them now.

The only version of mario 64 I played was the n64 version was below ok
Sunshine was good but can only compete with the first two games and that's only because I played so little of two

Galaxy was epic though it has very low replay value for a mario game and can't stand playing it anymore
Don't have galaxy 2

Super mario bros was good I replayed it to death
Super mario bros 2 was nothing special
Super mario bros 3 was very good like it a lot
Super mario world give me that happy feeling still
New Super mario bros is ok boring to say the least
New Super mario bros wii is awesome I can still replay it and it has multiplayer which I love
