Madden, we don't need a minor tweak repackaged and sold as a full game every year.

They could make so much money if they released DLC every year instead of a full game.  Charge $15-25 for it and just let it convert over last seasons game to the new season.  And for those that don't have a Hard Drive or the older game, they could release the full game as well.  It will never happen though,  Madden is probably the biggest selling sports game every year and they automatically think that it would cost them $.

You do know there have been about 20 Guitar Hero games in the past 5 years right?

Final Fantasy (VII) is milked for every penny it can get and then some but FF has nothing on the Guitar Hero franchise.

As for honorable mention, I would say Naruto games.  One of those is released like every 3-4 months.

I think final fantasy might beat that if were are talking about five years.

You're saying there has been more than 20 Final Fantasy games in any five year period?

I agree that Final Fantasy is pretty played out, but at least those games are decently spaced (by choice or management fail, whatever).

That's 60 realeases with far more than 20 unique titles, and most of the Itadki Street games aren't listed and none of the many Crystal Defenders releases are listed either.  Add in Kingdom Hearts and the Chocobo games and 80+ titles have seen release that are trying to work off of the Final Fantasy franchise in the last 5 years.  In contrast, even when you count up all multiplaform releases, GH only adds up to 50 titles and a much smaller handful of spin-offs that don't share the main series name in comparison.  The match goes to Final Fantasy, slightly more milked.

Also, Mario's name pops up 50 times in titles released by Nintendo in the last five years, but since it's been milked a lot longer than GH and going full-steam longer than FF he's probably the champ in lifetime marks, especially considering the number of games that have aped popularity from Mario ranging from Donkey Kong to Wii Fit and from Punch Out!! to Smash Bros.

This was what i meant when i made this thread about milked franchises.

Sport Franchises are very milked, also GH/RB.... can't think of something else that repeats the same game with new features each year.

@ killeryoshis

Definitely Pikmin .... I am putting down the Pikmin Franchise, even though they only made 2 games.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But anyway the most milked franchise, even though I love it, I would have to say mario...They have all of the spin-offs coming out, it can just be too much. It makes the franchise seem less "Epic: when they whore it out like that.

Currently Playing: Mass Effect (360)

Mario definately

How is mario milked. His name is but the seris isn't. The closest to milk is mario party. But their hasn't been a new game since 07

You do know that the games sell much better with the name "mario"? switch the character with anyone and it won't even get half the sales it could get with "mario" on the title.

Nope that's not milking. Milking is coming up with games with little improvements in a short prieod of time. The many sereis in mario are not milked. They have 1 game a console. Only Mario Party is milked

Tag:I'm not bias towards Nintendo. You just think that way (Admin note - it's "biased".  Not "bias")
(killeryoshis note - Who put that there ?)
Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Halo is up there, but like Mario, each new game does bring something unique to the table. I think Capcom, and what they've done to the RE series, is the epitome of milking. Re-release after re-release. And hell, up until RE 4, nothing new was brought to even the newest editions.

Granted that's a lot more than I thought there was, still, how varied are those uncrossed out games?

Just like how Mario has appeared in 50+ games, that's fine because it's not the same game over and over and over again being sold as a complete other game.  That list you have there half of them are FFXI expansion packs (and MMO expansions don't really count) and everything else is a different game with a fairly different feel.

There's a difference between a long list of games and milked.

Again, Guitar Hero is milked to death, Final Fantasy just has a lot of titles (though I would call FFVII milked to death).

Wait, so the FFXI expansions and rereleases aren't counted because they are just repeats of the exact same thing with slight tweeks over and over again, but GH is milked because it has a lot of releases that are the exact same thing with slight tweeks over and over again?  Listen to yourself, man.  You just crossed off 26 realeses for being ways of milking the series so that you could turn around and say they don't milk the series so much.  Of course you can get to whatever anwser you want when you choose to ignore all of the facts that prove you wrong.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Singstar, there are like 600 Singstar games
