You do know there have been about 20 Guitar Hero games in the past 5 years right?
Final Fantasy (VII) is milked for every penny it can get and then some but FF has nothing on the Guitar Hero franchise.
As for honorable mention, I would say Naruto games. One of those is released like every 3-4 months.

I think final fantasy might beat that if were are talking about five years.

You're saying there has been more than 20 Final Fantasy games in any five year period?
I agree that Final Fantasy is pretty played out, but at least those games are decently spaced (by choice or management fail, whatever).

That's 60 realeases with far more than 20 unique titles, and most of the Itadki Street games aren't listed and none of the many Crystal Defenders releases are listed either. Add in Kingdom Hearts and the Chocobo games and 80+ titles have seen release that are trying to work off of the Final Fantasy franchise in the last 5 years. In contrast, even when you count up all multiplaform releases, GH only adds up to 50 titles and a much smaller handful of spin-offs that don't share the main series name in comparison. The match goes to Final Fantasy, slightly more milked.
Also, Mario's name pops up 50 times in titles released by Nintendo in the last five years, but since it's been milked a lot longer than GH and going full-steam longer than FF he's probably the champ in lifetime marks, especially considering the number of games that have aped popularity from Mario ranging from Donkey Kong to Wii Fit and from Punch Out!! to Smash Bros.
