What do you guys think is the most overly milked franchise currently? I think while Halo and Guitar Hero are honorable mentions, the most milked franchise in my opinion is Final Fantasy.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be getting FFXIII day one, but how many games with the Final Fantasy title has appeared since FF12? What about how many games have been announced for the future before FFXIII even get released (FF14)? How many got released this year?

If the devs at SE spent more time on FFXIII then on all these spin-offs and remakes, they might have been able to release this game much sooner.

What do you guys think? Are other franchises milked harder than this? If so how?

You do know there have been about 20 Guitar Hero games in the past 5 years right? 

Final Fantasy (VII) is milked for every penny it can get and then some but FF has nothing on the Guitar Hero franchise.

As for honorable mention, I would say Naruto games.  One of those is released like every 3-4 months.

I think final fantasy might beat that if were are talking about five years.

It's difficult to really answer this sort of question. I think there are too many Guitar Hero and Halo games but that's just because I don't really like them. As you say there are many Final Fantasy games released but I enjoy them and to be honest if one was released every week I would still buy it so who am I to say that games others really enjoy are milked? The reason games keep releasing in a series is because people want them.

I agree that Final Fantasy is pretty played out, but at least those games are decently spaced (by choice or management fail, whatever).
