Forums - Sales Discussion - SOFTWARE: NSMBWii, AC2 debut to over 1 MILLION units! L4D2 also launches.

All three of the games broke a million for the week.

http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=6003

ACII: 1.55 million units across all platforms

NSMBWii: 1.25 million units

L4D2: 650k units

More detailed sales will be posted when available.

ioi says:

Assassin’s Creed 2 hit the combined number one spot this week, with over 1.55 million units across Xbox 360, PS3 and DS (up 27% on the original game). The PSP version – Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines sold a further 40,000 units.

New Super Mario Bros Wii sold just over 1.25 million units from 7 days on sale in the Americas and 2 days in most of Europe (9 days in Australia). With a further 750,000 units expected from the Japan release in week one, New Super Mario Bros. Wii should become the third fastest-selling Wii game to date behind Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii. Super Mario Galaxy sold 800,000 units in week one (excluding Japan), so with sales already over 50% higher and New Super Mario Bros. Wii expected to have stronger long-term sales than Galaxy, we expect total sales of the game to easily double the 8.2 million copies of Galaxy already sold.

The third big release this week was Left 4 Dead 2. With sales of over 650,000 in week one on Xbox 360, Left 4 Dead 2 outperforms the original by 83%. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 saw an enormous 83% drop after the record-breaking week one, still managing to sell 1.38 million units across Xbox 360 and PS3 this week. With a noticeably larger drop than other mega-hits like Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV (and with a lower week 2 than GTA IV managed), it will be interesting to see how the title holds up over the holidays.

Nice L4D2 sales :O

I wonder how it did on PC...

Great opening for NSMBWii and ACII. Huge drop for MW2, but that's to be expected. It sold more week two than most games can hope to sell week ONE.

Fantastic sales for L4D2 as well, relative to the original. Sequels tend to be more frontloaded, though, so we'll see how it performs over the holidays. Should outsell the original, I think.

EXCELLENT openings

I want to see the MW2 sales ratio though!

1.38 million across PS360, so I'll say:

890k 360

448k PS3

Good start for NSMBWii, but good start too for assasins Creed 2.

Let´s see, how NSMBWii can do to the end of the year, if it can outsell AC2, or MW2...

SEGA, the Game is never over!

"The PSP version – Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines sold a further 40,000 units."
this is makes me kinda happy, because it sold well despite of heavy pirating, and this to add to the PSN downloads too!

AC2- Probably

MW2- Extremely unlikely. This week puts MW2 at some 10.2 million units. I'm not sure NSMBWii can manage that for the entire year.

40k units constitutes "selling well" now?

Considering the HD platforms probably sold some 700k units each...
