Activision.

Not for Guitar Hero or Call of Duty or any of that noise.

But for the Blizzard merger alone. They got WoW and StarCraft. They won the universe, and killed a piece of my soul.

In fact, if asked the opposite question, who was the biggest loser this gen... I'd say Blizzard, for the Activision merger alone.

The "merge" didn't work that way.

Activision and Blizzard are still seperate companies, that are (mainly) managed differently, but are both owned by Vivendi.

True.  Vivendi is still the parent company of Blizzard, but now the CEO is Bobby Kotick.  ::shivers::

He's the CEO of Vivendi?!?!?!?!

...:(

Boby Kotick is the CEO of Activision-Blizzard.

He runs the whole company even if Blizzard has a lot of leeway in what they do.

Vivendi is a majority stock holder of Activision but doesn't run the company operations. They have seats on the board and if something really went wrong they could step in as a majority stakeholder but they don't run day to day, even not year to year operations..

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Looks like Vivendi owns 54% of Activision-Blizzard, but yeah, Bobby Kotick is the CEO of the whole Activision-Blizzard, including the Blizzard part.

Ubisoft

if in terms of sales i would say activision or ubisoft but if in terms of popularity increase i would say EA.

Activision, even though it won't last.

If it was on quality alone I would say Capcom they have been the most consistent publisher this gen in terms of putting out lots of good games. but if we're talking money Activision has it hands down. Modern Warfare and Guitar Hero will probably make more money this gen than the likes of Capcom, Konami, and Take Two combined.

Bethesda.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are masterpieces who sold over 5 million each.
These games have made Bethesda famous and incredibly respected.

And the merger of Splash Damage and id Software into Bethesda has made them a very powerful publisher.

True winners.

@Staude

Thats one game for PS3, you cant really say they win.

Activision.

Kotick should resign. or die. I'll be happy with both incidents.

In Japan it´s Level 5. For being very smart and supporting the winning platform (DS) with qualitygames that cater to the platforms audience more "casual taste" while at the same time staying true to the companys standards.

Level 5 is the company that has created the biggest new ip´s in Japan this gen, otherwise thridparties has mostly had big hits with followups to previous hits. Level 5 has hit the jackpot in Japan this gen, first with the Professor Layton series and now Inazuma Eleven. Next year we have the wonderful looking Ni No Kani- The Another World, the collaboration with Studio Ghibli and another likely big seller. Level 5 deserves this.
