Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would developers give a Wii HD the games they denied the Wii so far?

^MW and Dead Rising ports are basically "test" games that the devs put out, PR says that they are intended to try and break into the Wii market, really its more to keep the investors happy, cause investors want to see more of the Wii riches being obtained. And the only reason the test games are made, is because Wii has a massive base, otherwise they wouldn't be made

If "test" is lingo for, "lets try to make a shit load of money!" Perhaps I can agree.

Anyhow, porting HD games to the Wii is a huge endeavor thanks to the inferior hardware specs. Worst of all, it hasn't proven to be financially worth while. A Wii HD would make the process of porting easier, they wouldn't have to create an inferior product, and they might actually sell.

I don't think its fair for Wii fans to bitch at developers though. There clearly isn't a big enough demand for high quality games to the Wii. Especially when low budget crap is far more successful.

^Test is lets throw garbage onto the Wii, if it sells great, if not, at least we can say we tried and the Wii market doesn't have a big enough core gamers.

It wouldn't sell, if their games on the Wii suck, you really think a graphical upgrade will imporve them? No they are done to placate the investors who want to see more Wii games.

Actaully there is huge demand for high quality, look at Nintendo game sales on Wii

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

@Boneitis: The reason why the devs made their ports is because Wii installbase is too large to be ignored. Somethis like Wii HD that would start from zero installbase wouldn't interest any publisher. Wiis current installbase is much stronger lure to publishers to port their games, than a Wii HD that wouldn't have any users, but you'd still had to pay for the porting.

Also, as Avinash said, there's big demand for quality games on Wii, which is proven by the first party sales. Then again, there aren't that many quality titles on the HD systems either.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Throwing garbage on the Wii is not a test. Its common practice that's proven to be very lucrative.

When I look at the top selling Wii games. I mostly see long running Nintendo franchises, party games, edutainment, just a couple mega popular franchises that have seen better sales on other consoles, and licensed crap that appeals to kids. While people do buy high quality Nintendo games. There are plenty of great 3rd party Wii games that go ignored and if they sell its mostly due to the bargain bin.

You seem to have missed my point about the Wii HD. The PS3 and 360 share most of their library because of similar specs. If the Wii HD had specs similar to the 360 or PS3, it would definitely receive many of the games we see on the 360 and PS3 and they will be EQUAL QUALITY. Obviously I don't want to see the typical Wii shovelware with improved graphics. Keep that crap the old Wii and make the Wii HD backwards compatible.

no they wouldnt cause they would always find something wrong with a Nintendo console

What is actually a problem of sellers is because developers and publishers underestimate not the wii, but the expanded audience. most of wii gamers are smarter than actual "hardcore" gamers in the sense that they do not throw their money when they see bad quality. and if a publisher throws garbage to wii owners, they close their doors to this new market, and if they pubish a core title, it will not sell because the people think it's not worth it, like the rest of the garbage.

Some companies are lazy, others are in denial. I don't buy games from companies like those because of their lack of resolve. I rather trust other companies that are putting good efforts on the console, even if the end result is not of high quality, I can see their passion making the game.

i strongly believe this is the last generation where we have a graphics buff group that are all about graphics and not gameplay. first, nintendo graphics card is nice. i've seen games take advantage of the card tremendously. resident evil 4: wii edition was a nice direct port from the original ps2 and gamecube format and that alone lets us know ports can be done on the wii without and downgrade-nation.

second, i just think developers are lazy and they look at the wii as a console for easy profit and to gamble with the game to see if any consumers will bite and purchase the game rather than put much effort because a wii game doesn't cost as much as an 360 or ps3 game.

third, the wii HD would be treated the same way as the original wii if the HD version was to ever come out. it would be an "ooooh aaaah" for a few development games and then the developers will just begin to push shovelware on the console and it will be just like the original.

i personally don't understand developers on the wii. the wii has so much potential and yet they don't fully take advantage of the console when it comes to ports on top tier games i.e. resident evil 5 or grand theft auto 4. people say that the ps3 is getting the end of the stick when it comes to multi-platform games from the 360, we mines as well say the same about the wii. those games (resident evil 5, grand theft auto 4) can make it to the wii but several things factor in from a developers perspective like graphics, disc capacity, wii controls and demographics.

We're saying no. The quality wouldn't matter. They would find more reasons to ignore it (we have to adjust the controls, and we won't acknowledge the classic controller).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Nintendo has proven their games are in huge demand with every console they've released. If every 3rd party developer could just create what Nintendo does everyone would be rich.

If you don't think the HD consoels have many quality titles, than the Wii must be abysmal. That's just an ignorant comment.

Your post alone makes me feel like the developers are segregating the wii lol
