Or vice versa for each pairing!

Hahaha, great thread.

Needs more Wii fans in here though, so I'll jump in.

I completely agree with the OP's assessment.

I come from both ends of the spectrum, with PC on one side and Wii/DS on the other. It's really the best of both worlds for me. I've got the Orange Box and StarCraft, and I've got Wii Sports and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I don't know what you HD folks are doing with your "middle of the road gaming."

It seems like there's 2 main philosophies of gaming: the PC kind and the Wii kind.  The HD systems get stuck in the middle and really hate both ends of the spectrum.  But they're trying to take over online gaming and motion controls so they can be everything at once.  It's kinda cute.

First off the PC has tons of great games each year, so do the Twins, and the Wii as well. Anybody who says otherwise is being a mindless fanboy. I can find at least 20 games on each system I would love to play just this year.

Frankly it comes down to what genres you like. If you are a big RTS, RPG, SIMS, flight sim, indie game fan, modder, or graphics whore . Many also choose PC for FPS- but not all. The HD twins are great for sports (from boxing to football), local-multiplayer sports, platforming, JRPGS, and button mashing goodness. Heck a few people prefer FPS's on them.

The Wii is great with friends, it has a great library of party games and sports games. Wii also has some great platformers, railshooters, survival horror and imports. Many consider it's FPS controls almost rivaling PC.

Why can't we all just get along?

I really don't understand why people always bring up viruses against PC's, anyone with half a brain can prevent them.

Here's a list I made:

Reasons for Wii over HD:
Interesting non-traditional controls
Runs games with much fewer hassles and updates
Much cheaper
Less hardware problems
Several exclusive AAA games
Less power consumption
Little SW error

feel free to take thes as reasons HD is better than PC as well

this thread is all kinds of awesome

Sorry for the random necro, test week happened....

Just to address this. It's faulty in both comparisons.

Wii is not "much cheaper" than the HD consoles, especially the lowest 360 SKU. Also the HD consoles are not "much cheaper" than an equivalently powered PC.

I don't see how analog sticks from '95 can be considred anywhere near "interesting non-traditional controls." The mouse didn't even become a mainstay for those games back then so one could argue the mouse is a newer and more interesting control scheme than the PS3 controller.

Also the less hardware problems, while true for the Wii is utterly false as a positive against the PC. The 360 in specific has a far worse failure rate than a PC that has been built competently. YLOD is about as equal as PC I would guess. Also the good thing is if in a PC a failure occurs and you are out of warranty, you replace one part. WIth consoles you have to buy the whole console again.

Several AAA exclusives works in either way, by no means does the Wii have more than the HD consoles and the HD consoles vs PC.

That's about it.

Also, unlike the OP, few of the ones you listed are oft repeated fanboy rants either. I have never heard a PS3 fan their control scheme as interesting ro a 360 fan say they have less hardware failure in my time lurking here.

Again sorry for the necro. Also my stamps are broken so I don't even know if this is a necro or not. I'm just assuming.
