Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox Europe Blown Away By Reception Of Sky Player On Xbox 360

Is this one of a few steps to form a Newscorp- M$ alliance? They just started a conversation to not allow google to use one of Murdochs newspapers and others of his over 150 media-services, such as Wallstreet Journal and Sky. Only MS's bing will be allowed to use such medias.

Why would Microsoft lie ?

US equivalent please

None this is a UK and Ireland option only. I guess if you are saying what equivalent service Sky would be then that would be Cable, although this offering it limited to 24 live channels and on deman.

I want this but we have Virgin Media atm, maybe they'll strike a deal with them too in the future? I prefer Sky but I find V.Broadband better ... hmm

im with virgin media also, mabey some day they can incorporate VM into consoles.

i find VM a better deal, i looked at sky but chose virgin media, it more or less has all the great sky channels on it anyways, plus the VM broadband is pretty good.

although i wont be subscribing to the 360 sky package, i use the sky news feed which is handy, but another 3 weeks left till i get my 360 back:(

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

If you have Sky in your house then you can just use your username and password on xbox live and you can watch exactly the same channels from anywhere in the house but without having to pay any extra or fit another satellite box, wires/dish .

Far Far better than anything on any other console , worth  the £22 yearly Xbox live gold sub for this alone.

so if i have sky and give my password and username away, all my friends owning a xbox360 + xbox live gold can watch sky for free???

-impossible-

This is so over hyped. Nearly everone in the UK has a sky box which you get for free. The service offered on the xbox is more expensive with less channels available. My friend( one of the few people who does not have sky) was considering this but backed out when he saw the prices and just went for sky directly.

Well I'm one of those people that isn't 'nearly everyone' and I've always wanted Sky for Sky Sports (and ESPN now) and instead of having someone over to install a dish I literally just went onto the internet and had sky on Xbox in around five minutes and now I get the channels I want for around £7 less than I would for normal Sky and if I wanted to stop subscribing then I can at any time! Yes it doesn't have that many channels at the moment but I'm REALLY happy with the channels I have right now and I'd imagine they'd be adding more as time goes on! I noticed Eurosport 2 was added the other day for a start.

I'm just amazed at the quality of it as well personally!

Rally. Guess you and your friend havent looked into it properly. Without a doubt the sky player 360 menu is MUCH better. Also Live Gold is £48/year. Thats the extra. If you dont have Sky, the best option for gaming and TV is to get Virgin Media Broadband 10 mb connection £9.99/month and get whatever Sky Subscription you want. Sky on 360 costs normal Sky prices ( depending on package ) plus Live Gold of £48/ year. There is only an extra cost for multiroom if you already have Sky and want it for 360 in another room. So the extra cost is Broadband/Live Gold. Lets be honest for gaming VM supply the best broadband. For 10 mb 9.99 it's a bargain.

So for that you get Sky TV ( plus the 360 features that you dont get with Sky HD box ) and Fast Broadband via optical cable and HD film downloads in 1080p via Xbox Live all on one console and no wires or DISH. Awesome. My mate has just got it, and I now hate my stupid Sky box menu. With Natal as well flicking through Sky with no remote will be so cool. Lovin it. Cant wait to change mine over in nexy couple of weeks.
