Forums - Website Topics - This site has far too much spyware.

Well I kinda doubt the site itself is hosting any malware, but keeping tabs on what your ad providers are doing isn't easy, because they pretty much have the ability to stick anything in their ad spaces without your knowledge. (i've actually delt with a similar problem on my website).

I use opera, never scene the fake virus scanner popup. You can edit site preferences to block all popups, and accept cookies only from this site. I prefer opera, it has built in email and is fast.

I've neve experienced such problems

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I use Ad Block Plus and Avast! antivirus and it protects me from 98% of viruses.

It's the ads, you'd be surprised how much malware is hidden with ads. Firefox + Noscript = no problems.

I used NoScript once. It was just a massive pain, so I stopped.

I have Firefox with the NoScript addon.

So it blocks all other scripts except for VGChartz, it blocks all the ads and stuff that could potentially harm your computer.
I love this addon.

And bingo was his namo!  I've got Firefox + NoScript + Adblock Plus and I visit this site way too many times a day.  And nothing, nothing has ever happened.

It's worth it, I don't even run an antivirus software cause I don't need to. If you are careful about what you allow and what you don't with Noscript you pretty much cut out any harmful malware from the web.

I agree. When I clicked on ad once i got a shitload of popups asking me to install some software. and since my norton antivirus expired, i have been redirected to some spyware site twice when clicking on a thread.

So do I becouse all the crazy flash elements and adds on VGC were killing my netbook.

But are you guys sure those are real anti-virus warnings becouse if they are showing on Wii for example then it suggest to me that they are pop-up trap ads trying to lure you into buying some kind of "fishy" protection software ?

Bout a week ago, I got home from work, scanned this site and only this site. The next day, my laptop was almost unusable (virus attack). Now, it's back to normal.

Or adblock them and get to visit the site without supporting it at all. Sadly when a site gets overun with ads like VGchartz the only option is to block them all- cutting off the revenue stream for the site. By letting malicious ads on the site they are essentially making the choice for us and the result is not good for either party. But hey what do I know.
