All Microsoft would have to do is create a device that is much harder to mod so it keeps the pirates out (easier said than done). This is the main reason people don't want to develop for the PSP. If a developer can't sell their wares no wonder they don't want to develop for it ( I wouldn't want to give away my work either).

Not to mention Microsoft has the money to get developers on their side. All they would have to do is through the money at them, and most companies can't refuse.

The psp was a success... It has just faltered lately because of a lack of software.

They need to bring more games to take advantage of that awesome tegra video though.

Zune HD with buttons, xbox level of graphics, wifi and Live would be enough for me. especially if MS would re-release their xbox games with additional content and some of 360 games would get their portable versions.

A Microsoft handheld would probubly do as good as the GameGear did against Nintendo. Sony's success has been largely driven by piracy and the PS brand. Microsoft could never dethrone Nintendo and like heck it even is a contender to take out PSP2. A Microsoft handheld would just be more money being washed down the drain.

Microsoft's best option would be to bulster its support of Nintendo's systems. On the DS we saw numerous Microsoft properties appear on portable platforms. If Microsoft boosted this support I think they could ship alot of software and probubly hurt Sony in the proccess which in the end is the only reason they would have to enter the handheld industry anyways
