Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Formula 1 2009 Anybody else got it? Thoughts? Impressions?

Being a big F1 fan, I went straight down to the shops today to pick it up, even though the screens looked awful and I haven't heard much about the game. I'm happy to say it looks a lot better than the early screenshots and has quite a good range of options. Did anyone else out there pick up this game or are planning to, or am I the only F1 fan here??

I'm not an F1 fan to be honest, but I wanted a good racing game for the Wii and I certainly found it with this title.  The game is very addicting.

Yeah I just finished up a nice 6 hour session with one of my mates. Very addictive. The KERS button rocks.

I love F1 but I've only seen the one review from this and it was far from flattering.

It probably doesn't stand up well against the HD twins racing games but it's well worth a purchase if you're into F1 and is the best 'serious' racing game on the Wii.

All the reviews say it got it right where it counts.  Graphics may not be great, but they are more than adequate.  It's not like you can admire the scenery anyway because you absolutely have to keep your eyes on the road unless you want to drive in to the stands.  The sense of speed is definitely there and it certainly gets your competitive juices flowing.  The racing is great and the controls are tight.  Using the Wiimote as a steering wheel works better than in Mario Kart.  I have yet to see a frame rate issue, but I'm not going to say it doesn't exist.  The game is a nice mix between arcade and sim, and to be honest, it's taking away play time for Modern Warfare Reflex.  It's a bargain title too.

Edit:  Check out Metacritic.

Here's a quote from Eurogamer:

"Once on-track, few F1 games have managed to be as encouraging when it comes to pushing yourself to attack corners and better your lap time, and fewer still have proved as much fun. This may not be the revolution the Formula 1 sub-genre has been waiting for, but you're not likely to find many Wii owners complaining."

Thanks for that, now i'm intrigued...

I'm a big F1 fan, ioi is crazy btw but back on topic :P

I'm not sure if I'll pick this up or not, I'd probably get a lot of use out of it though, I still play F1 World Championship (I think that's it's name) on the N64 occasionally.

FYI:  I added to the post you quoted....

It's going pretty cheap here too for a brand new game. $69 at K-Mart with the wheel.
