Forums - Gaming Discussion - How will the 600,000 banned Xbox360 will change sales

We all heard more than a week ago that 600,000 owners were banned from XboxLive for piracy reason. My question is how do you guys think this will affect the sales for the weeks to come.

1) Will all 600,000 owners buy a new Xbox360 thus boosting Xbox360 sales worlwide

2) Will all 600,000 owners will get mad and buy a PS3 thus boosting PS3 sales worlwide

3) Or do you thinks some will rebuy the Xbox360 and others will buy the PS3 (if so mark you percentage for each)

And if you were the one banned what would you do.

My answers:

I think some will rebuy the Xbox360 and others will buy the PS3. ( 60% for Xbox360 and 40% for PS3)

If i was banned, unless my favorite game is an exclusive I would just move to another console.

Around the Network

I think they said around 1 million were banned.

Anyway I think we'll see a 360 hardware boost.

They might buy a used 360 console or something. This won't help boost console sales. Some may buy a PS3 but I doubt it, you can't hack a PS3.

I will say #1. Alot of times if the system is broken somehow and yet you have all these games/controllers etc for it then most likely you'd just rebuy the same system.

Hardly think anybody would just sell and scrap everything to start with a new different system etc.

Why do they have to buy another console?
I'd say a big part of pirates don't care about online, and that's why they modded their boxes.

Yeah, some people will buy a new console, but I don't think it's the majority.

Around the Network

Those who were banned use hacked consoles. They just can't use the live anymore, they can play their games offline normally. Most won't buy a new console,

Even if the 360 sales rise due to that, the instaled base will be the same. 500k new consoles that were bought due to bans, means some 500k banned 360's gathering dust somewhere...

None of guys answered what would you do if you where the one banned? Stay with the console, buy the banned console or move to another console (this question apply to all not just Xbox360 users)

If the 360 sales rise, then Microsoft is making profit from banning the user. It's like having one person buying 2 Xbox360

I have to assume there was a point in this statement, but then you know what they say about assuming. . .
