This game is way better then mario 64...

I have about 15 stars and I am really enjoying myself. You never feel like you are doing the same thing twice. There is a lot of variety in this game. The worlds are so far very different and the boss battles are great.

The first time I ever played mario 64 was about 7 months ago... maybe that has something to do with it?

Has every thing to do with it, this game is a refinement of that. So if you just played that for the 1st time then this will definitely seem better to you.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

The other thing is to realize that M64 came out in September of '96.  For its time it wasn't too shabby graphically either.

Some galaxies I revisit as the atmosphere is so amazing! Really, I do that more in games, which have an atmosphere that steals away my heart, I'll just walk around do nothing and enjoy the view, ha ha ha.

Darnit! I keep dying a lot. I have to walk away after a few tries for twenty minutes or so and then go back, that seems to do the trick. I suppose it's a blessing in disguise because it will certainly make the game last longer.

@sqrl: every game is reviewed for its time and at the time, Mario 64 was a revolution in gaming, Galaxy is more like a revolution in the platformer genre today. We need more platformer games, ther are way too few lately. Hopefully companies learn something from Galaxy.

I agree, its one of those genres which have been abandoned as the markets become more specialised. America is the territory of Sports+FPS+Racing, Japan's taste in games is less mainstream than ever and Europe is far too much of a fractured market.

Mind you the few platformers recently have been fairly decent. Ratchet on the PS3, SMG on the Wii and NSMB on the DS.

Quick question for all of you who have the game. Have you listened to Rosalina's storybook sessions? Did you notice that the music is very similar to, but not exactly the same, as the ending theme from Super Mario Bros. 2? (US release)

This is one of those features that I really think is a nice touch, and fits very well with the theme of the game, but will cause fanboys to label the game as KIDDIE despite being completely optional.
