Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Cavia helped convince Capcom that Resident Evil 5 is possible on Wii

“At Resident Evil 5’s launch, it was announced that a Wii version was not technically possible. But after some of the work that Cavia has done (with RE: Darkside Chronicles), the producers of Resident Evil 5 over in Japan now think it is possible. Some of the light effects in the South America stage are pretty incredible. Whether it is going to come, I don’t know the answer to that question. But, it has been said that now at least it is possible.” - Product manager Matt Dahlgren

That sounds like a really positive statement to me. In my mind, there was never any reason as to why Resident Evil 5 couldn't work on Wii. Just bring the graphics down a bit, and you're set. Capcom sure has come a long way with the possibilities of an RE5 port to Wii. Remember when they said that Wii couldn't even handle the RE5 title screen?

That is a really positive statement about something that is never going to happen.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

It would be amusing if they make RE5 "Extraction" and retail it for the full $50 while the original RE5 would be at $20 after 2 years.

You read it here first :)

hopefully it comes to wii and will be happy about.

You know what I would love to see. A big time 3rd party developer put a large amount of resources and max out the Wii graphics. The only 3rd party company (small company) out there to push the Wii is HVS and I cant wait to see what they have to offer with the grinder and what ever else they have up their sleeves. Its a shame that a small company has to show the big boys how to push the Wii to its max. I am sick of the bullshit that comes out of companies mouths like capcom and others. Why dont they just try and push the graphics of the Wii. Its not going to be HD, but it can still look damn good at 480p and HVS showed that to a certain degree with The Conduit. That my 2 cents

This has been done to death.

3rd parties will always treat the Wii like garbage; giving it a whole bunch of idiotic test games. When somebody starts giving a damn, then we'll talk.

But until then, screw it.

Wait....

Cavia is more technically adept than the Resident Evil 5 team?!

That is funny that it seems that Cavia is better at it then the Resident Evil 5 team. What a joke. A smaller team showing up a bigger team with more resources. Wow just wow.
