Forums - Sony Discussion - My PS3 Died............

Well I never thought it would happen but it did. I just purchased modern warfare 2 put the disc in and it never loaded up
Iv'e tried a few tings like loading up the secret menu where you can fix corrupt files on ps3 (these corrupt files are what causes the freezing)
I made the ps3 rebuild it system hoping it would be software related and not hardware. but no luck, I've backed up all my game saves and called Sony and asked about repairs and as its out of warrenty it will cost £99 to replace the blu ray drive but there was a something i forgot to ask.

Does anyone know if i send it to them to be repaired, will they have some sort of gaurantee on it?

Im tempted to sell it on ebay for about £90-110 to someone who knows how to fix it, sell numour other things and get a slim

what do you guys think?
slim or give in to sony's rather kick in the balls repair tag, either way they gain money from me

Personally, I would sell it on eBay and buy a slim.

Depending on the model you'll get different amounts for it (more if it has BC).  You can send it to Sony and pay them but I believe you only have either a 30 or 90 day warranty (pretty sure it's 30), either way not long.

Does anyone have any advice on taking care of the system that will prevent PS3 failures?

Like, dusting it off, vacuuming it once a week, and leaving it in an open area, and allow the fan to do it's job? I know I've listed some, but, that's what I'm aware of..

just get it fixed, i believe they give you 1 year , not 100 percent sure, it has not happened to me, only one of my friends out of about 60, that i know has a ps3, also i do know, my cousin got his back fixed in less then 2 weeks, actually about 9-10 days, has not had a problem since

Whats with all these consoles breaking?

Get a slim.

If the warranty is that short then I guess I should sell it and get a slim, I wanted to keep it because they dont make the phat ones anymore (40gb)

Im in luck, I know someone that works in sainsburys where the slim is now at £199 and with his 15% discount i can get a slim for £169 , but the offer ends tuesday

anyone want to buy an in car dvd player, sevic blue laser, 7 inch screen also uses SD cards, fits into the cd player slot???

If it's just a BD drive issue, I think you should send it in. That's if you don't want a slim, though.

4 ≈ One

Well what if i send it back and within a few months it breaks again? will they replace it for free or am i forking out again, Id rather keep the one i have tbh......ah i dunno anymore :(
