That 70% is really setting it back.

I don't understand how Call of Duty: Modern warfare 1.5 got eight 100% scores on metacritic.

Wait, I do understand, Activision just bought these reviews.

Reviews shouldn't be trusted, no game can be perfect. You can only give a game a perfect score if there isn't a single flaw in the game, not even a small one. So these so called professional reviewers are telling me that there isn't a single flaw in modern warfare 1.5? There is 0 lag online? The graphics are the best ever seen? The singleplayer is longer then 5 hours? It's not a linear single player game? It does a whole lot of new things?

How can you give a game a perfect score with obvious flaws like this? I'm not saying this game is bad, I'm just saying that a perfect score is a no can do.

what? There is more new content in the cod games than there is in any nintendo game.

they wrote the book on rehashing.

Of course they did.  Nintendo invented JUMPING in video games.  I hope you're not jumping in Modern Warfare 2.  Or you might as well just call it Donkey Kong 10.

^^wow best counter on this site thus far..lol soap got owned!!

I think NSMBWii will settle around the low 80's, and possibly dare i say the late 70's *GASP!*

It'll get it's 9's and it's 8's and maybe a near/perfect score or two, but by god it will get its 7's and its 6's. Just look at the game, it's called New Super Mario Bros. Wii for crying out loud; good god i can hear Gamespot already...

There may even be the one reviewer who has to be the crumble in my room of pie's and give the game an absurdly low score that it probably doesn't deserve. It happened with Muramasa, that game had a steady flow of 6 - 9's (with 1 perfect score) until GameCritics had to come along with their 3 and a terrible review to justify the number, dragging the metascore down.

Either way though, we're all going to play this game and probably enjoy, at least i know i will. And i shall be a very happy bunny if it does manage to pull of Mario Kart Wii numbers.

Lastly: Let's stop the Modern Warfare 2 bashing please, it's not MW2's fault that EDGE gave NSMBWii a 7. Modern Warfare "1.5" jokes aren't necessary. The game is really good and i believe deserves its high scores.

How technical is your game?

Zelda on Super Nintendo is better than both MW2 and NSMB Wii

put together

The game will end up above a 9.0 when the dust settles methinks. I'm hearing too many wonderful things to think otherwise.

Personally, I don't care what the meta is for it. Metacritic is flawed by design. If you ask me, the best way to "fix" meta is to cut the outliers on both ends. Looking at the above (at the time of this post, there are 5 reviews), 4 of the 5 games give it at least the "average" 85, but the one low point is what drags it down. Instead, cut the outliers out, and you get a better feel for where a game should be. The 70 will be removed for being the low score, and to keep it balanced, the 96 is removed for being the high score. The remaining 3 scores create an average of 89. For games with more reviews, I'd say to cut the top 10% and the bottom 10%. It's those extreme scores that pull scores away from a more accurate thought of the reviewing public. However, it still doesn't count those that are biased toward or against something. That's something that just broke in the general review system.

Mario is going from 1 player to 4 players.  That's a 300% increase.

Modern Warfare is going from 32 players to 18 players.  That's a 43.75% decrease.
