Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will VC and Wiiware get a price cut?

Yeah, I want to get a lot of titles but its going to be a lot of points. They should make NES 250, SNES 400, N64 600,and WiiWare 500.

They should, VC is certainly over-priced. A price cut is very unlikely though.

I doubt a price cut will happen

Never going to happen. In the year 2015 they will all be the same price!

and Wii Ware games are vastly different so to suggest them all at the same price is crazy.

I think the prices for most Wiiware games are correct, especially for the "cream of the cream": the only exceptions could be games with episodic content, in the end costing the same as a full price retail game... without any jacket, and any possibility to sell it back in 2nd hand... or to buy it cheaper in a bargain bin...

When it comes to VC, that's very different: the best games, all the classics and the import exclusives, are well worth the price... the problem is with all the others, but then, nobody forces anyone to buy these, so the solution is quite simple: buy the games with the best value, and forget about all the others...

Maybe one day, all the games with really poor sales will have a price cut, who knows... but till then, just act like they're not even there, or are indeed overpriced... and it will be OK...

What about a price cut though for older games? Will this ever happen do you think?

I agree with what 68soul said, the great games on VC are often worth more than their price, but then are other games that were bad when they were released and are awful now, selling for the same price as classic games. It seems like lately Nintendo has been talking about wanting to improve sales of their downloadable games. I think discounting some of those games would really help a lot. I think there are a lot of NES games on the VC that should be selling for $2 or maybe even $1 dollars, then the games would benefit from a cheap price like the 99 cents games on the iphone store, and would actually sell some copies.

Who sets the prices for the games -- particularly the VC games?
This is particularly true with respect to non-Nintendo games.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Never for VC, pricing is standardized by system with premiums for imports or complex licenses. I think we could see some WiiWare games drop in price over time, but not Nintendo's own titles.

Without inventory and shelf space though, there's little incentive for price drops in the digital space.

will someone tell nintendo to stop messing with us.a snes game used to cost 8 euro.(800 points),,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT,,,,,,,,,now it costs 10-11 euro because the wii points are now more expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!old price 2000 points-20 euro
