Forums - Gaming Discussion - Kingdom Hearts: BBS should be ported to the Wii

@Soriku

Don't get me wrong, i'll be buying this game come day one, the gameinformer scans conviced me from the get go xD but it's just that many people have put a lot of faith in this game, and sometimes dissapointments do come, especially when it comes to a brand new IP, since it's always a 50-50 chance to either succeed or to do poorly (compared to expectations)

What you're saying sounds like you're talking about the people who'll buy it just because it's heavily Disney related. Your statement about how each world is based on movies are true but when I played KH, each world had pretty much just the core plot and climax, they were all really short. Also your actions were way of topic. You were fighting enemies that were from Kingdom Hearts and not those specific worlds half the time.

People who buy movie games expect much longer and much more detailed and focused experiences on that particular movie than what KH games offer. It just doesn't seem right to even compare KH to movie tie-ins when you consider this. It's more like a cross-over game.

Also, Crisis Core and Tales atleast shows there's a market for action RPG's on PSP - Something the sales of those other games doesn't.

As for Epic Mickey and sales, Agent is PS Exclusive even though GTAIV sold much more on 360 than PS3. Agent still has the chance to be a success if made and marketed well. Gears this gen, Halo last gen, and MGS1 in the 5th gen show that exclusivity can be beneficial to getting an IP to really take off and creating their own fanbase.

And yet... thats why the first two KH games sold...  Once again... look at the advertsing for KH1 and KH2.  All it is, is a wide array of Disney characters.

I mean look at the sales Ratio of KH vs the sales ratio of Final Fantasy games when it comes to region.

It's fairly obvious that final fantasy fans are not a main driver... or even close to one.

actually sales were pretty similar for both FF12 and kh2.

i made a thread for the lulz please discuss on gaming forum.

@Soriku

I know it's not a new IP per se because it's not bringing any unknown's into the gaming world, yet it will start something new on the wii, so it will still be a gamble ;) I'll be glad if it can reach the level of Mickey Mania, that's still the best disney, only, game ever made to me.

you can't be serious.... the Wii can't handle BBS's title screen

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

I get what your saying. I'm just saying that I believe it's RPG fans [including final fantasy fans] that are the main drivers for the sales and that the game being a disney game isn't the main reason.  Tried pointing this out earlier with my first post in this thread. THe only Disney games I see selling are Movie tie-ins and extremely casual stuff, and they're not pushing anywhere near KH1&2 numbers and I wouldn't put them in either of those two categories.

Well I think your right. It is mostly applicable to RPG fans why people by the games, yes including Final Fantasy fans. So I present this link 2 DS rpgs and Crisis Core which as has been mentioned the basis of gameplay for BBS. Link I also present this link to represent Wii RPG in comparison of Crisis Core.

There are of course problems with these comparisons. Especially in the Wii RPG vs Crisis Core. Theres no main Final Fantasy title on PSP or Wii to make an accurate comparison for the FF fans. Except for FF VII by PSN. I checked on the sales chart and it was there. Maybe it will be soon.

If it's all a matter of having RPG fans for your system. Then DX9 pretty much proves hands down that any system withe the user base especially whom ever has FF/DQ and the largest userbase is the most viable system.

So should BBS go to the Wii, yeah. But then I think this entire idea of third party exlusivity is crap and all third parties should try to deliver all games across all platforms. Unless there are REAL valid reasons why it can't. Like some game where Natal/EyeToy are mandatory and Nintendo has no option.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

I don't think it's fair to compare a spin-off of a ten+ year old game to the latest main entry in the DragonQuest series on the DS [market leader where we know there's a good RPG fanbase]. Also, I thought Fire Emblem was an SRPG series? I wouldn't really expect FF like numbers, but atleast we agree on something.

I don't want to be the odd person to point this out, but what happens if Epic Mickey doesn't do well?

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

But that's almost impossible.

Relative to what? I mean, I don't think anyone predicts it to do as well as the main Kingdom Hearts titles.

How about just make Kingdom Hearts 3 for Wii.
