Valve: 360 Community Head and Shoulders Above PS3

Left 4 Dead project lead Chet Faliszek has said the 360 community is "head and shoulders above the PS3", and that's why the multiplayer-focused Left 4 Dead series isn't on Sony's console.

Speaking to CVG in a recent interview Faliszek said the community aspects of the PC and Xbox platforms "really fit" Left 4 Dead - so it's not coming out on PS3.

"Right now for Left 4 Dead 2 we're looking at PC and 360 because the community aspects really fit the game - it's all about playing with your friends," he said.

"But that's the short term. What we're looking at for the long term... if it works out, it works out. Right now don't not buy it on the 360 because you think it's coming out on the PS3 - it's not going to. Right? It's coming out on the PC and 360. It's going to be exclusive for that."

Faliszek replied went on: "In hooking up with your friends and the community aspects, I think the Xbox 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3. The 360 and PC are on par, right?"

Could this be Valve being butthurt over what Gearbox said? Is Valve correct in saying 360 online is on par with PC and "head and shoulders" above PS3?

Personally I don't think it is "head and shoulders" above PS3. I also don't think that this is a good excuse. I thought the excuse was originally development issues with PS3. Now it's the online?

Discuss.

Is this really interesting? Seems like the same blubber that Valve has been spouting for a while. Just ignore them.

oh hell no!!!

If I'm getting a Valve game, it's going to be on the PC. Thus, this new round of anti-Valve hate will be interesting to watch.

Someone please clarify for me. Is he blaming L4D2 not coming to PS3 on PSN or is he actually blaming the PSN community?

You must admit the humor in seeing a new excuse from Valve all the time though.

PS3 got Team Fortress 2 though, so i'm happy.

Oh, so this is the new excuse? Whatever, it's their loss, really. I play their games on PC, anyway.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I don't understand the "head and shoulders" part about ps3 online vs. Xbox online. It's just not that way anymore...

I wish they would be honest and just say "Hey, we don't want to develop for the ps3 and that's that"

They don't need to come up with silly excuses.

wow... I agree OP. Definitely butthurt.
Let's not forget the most important part of what Gearbox said. 'It is financially more viable to have a game be successful on 360 than on ps3'.

I only ever play their games on PC though, so it doesn't really matter to me, but it makes sense. The dvds are cheaper, and the development is easier. Looks like 'case closed' to me.

2 reasons why there is some truth to this statement...

1. People on XBL pay to be there. PSN is like a club where everyone can join...as many times as they like...hence you can't do any proper skill matchmaking. Whats stopping a 3 star general in Halo 3 to create a new account every month on PSN and rape people over and over...other than the fact Halo 3 is not on PS3 :)

2. XBL is a controlled environment. Microsoft controls the cheating and hacks and Valve doesn't have to deal with that. PSN is controlled to a certain extent but not as much. COD4 had a huge issue with cheating few months back and IW had to take matters in to their own hands and do up a a patch.
