So Geoff started talking to Reggie about ModernWarFare2 and questioning him about the over whelming success its supposed to achieve. We all know of the recent bet here on VGChartz the bet that NSMBW will reach 11 million in year one sales. Well Reggie was up to betting that NSMBW is actually going to out perform one version of the ModernWarFare2 release.

Geoff specifically mentions the 360 version and Reggie says if we count the holiday sales through January of both titles that NewSuperMarioBrosWii will actually outsell ModernWarFare2 on 360. Lets just be clear on this.

As of right now pre-order sales of ModernWarFare2  Versus Pre-orders of NewSuperMarioBros:Wii are as follows!

ModernWarFare2 (360) - 1,714,204

ModernWarFare2 (PS3) - 650,396

NewSuperMarioBros:Wii - 403,276

LT sales, new super mario bros. wii will beat it. Though of course MW2 will have higher sales for the first week. Then again, that's just how I feel XD.

does he mention if its worldwide or just the US? The US would be impossible but worldwide is reasonable if you are only talking about the 360 version. If you include all versions it would be impossible to do it for a long time.

Are you all forgetting how well the "meh" New Super Mario Bros sold on the DS? Don't count this game out yet. Plus he DOES state he thinks MW2 will sell extremely well, and that likely the combined sales will top NSMB Wii, at least until January.

Lifetime, I think it'll outsell MW2 across all platforms due to great continued sales, but MW2 will see very strong sales right out of the gate.

Modern Warfare 2 will have most of it's sales within the first few weeks. It's not going to be a "holiday" game, as most parents won't buy a mature game for their kids. (or at least we can hope!)

New Super Mario Bros Wii, on the other hand, is going to be a huge holiday seller that is on a console owned by 60 million people. Plus Nintendo has said the marketing campaign for this will be bigger than any other previous Mario game.
