The article may be poorly named by GoNintendo, because of the word "combo", but what they're sayin' in the article makes sense: once a console is HD, it can play anything, in any resolution, it's all about the developpers choices... so, some games may be in 1080, while others may be in 720, and others in 480: it depends on the result and the refinement needed (or wanted), but not on the capacity of the hardware itself... at least that's how i understand it...

Btw, my favourite articles here are the ones about the relationships with 3rd parties: many ideas (and wishes) i've written in very recent threads are now said by the Nintendo's big guys, so it makes me feel smart: and that's always nice...  :)

Interestingly, he could be both telling the truth and Nintendo could be developing a new HD console, because they don't tend to use same name, so I fully believe him there will be no Wii 2, whether it's HD or SD, but on the other hand I also suspect the next Nintendo console (unamed at this point) may have HD graphics.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Of course they are working on their next console, they've been working on it since they finished the Wii, they always do that, and likely it will be capable of HD graphics, but it won't be out next year (and probably not the year after either)

I was one of those guys. I think the next Wii is coming in Christmas 2011. Of course Nintendo isn't going to be launching their next Wii next year, it would be a year early and Nintendo always releases their consoles every 5 years! But its funny to see Reggie crushing Patchers dreams like that, then again Patcher has been predicting WiiHD for years now. Sooner or later he'll be right!

No he will never be right as it will not be called Wii HD it will be called something ells all together :P

Yeah, well I'm saying no to a $199 Wii when the PS3 and 360 have better tech and more compelling offerings, so I guess we're equal.

I've been to the future, and here's how it's all gonna go down next gen...

The next Ninty system will be FOUR GameCubes duct-taped together, the Xbox 720 will be two 360s duct-taped together along with Natal, and the PS4 will be the most powerful piece of hardware that not only DOES everything, but it IS everything!

Of course... the future isn't exactly written in stone, so all of these events are subject to change.

this just confirms it, expect wii HD by the end of 2010.

zelda HD one of the launch games and zelda wii will get a motion plus version.
