Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo to introduce demos for wiiware

Although, if they have not been impressed with download sales, I wonder why they made the DSi with it's biggest feature being the DSiWare.

I think that they are mostly unhappy by the number of Wiis online and not the actual sales of the connected Wiis.

The longtime lack of a HD, awful online service, and no demos killed Wiiware for me. Maybe this might spark my interest, but I've already purchased two dozen games or so from XBLA (and demoed many more than that), and there are several more great looking ones in the works, so, meh, maybe I'll just stick with the 360.

It's amazing how Nintendo can be so inovative in some areas, yet drag their feet so much for others. Even with demos their online service and offerings are far behind MS and Sony.

maybe they havent been confident of the quality of games they have been putting up.

i havent purchased anything from them because i dont have wifi...but i know that demos/trial versions on XBL have encouraged me to purchase games.

This is great. Maybe in the future it'll extend outside of Wiiware games.

I always thought Nintendo's philosophy was to get their games in as many hands as possible, and game demos would certainly fit into this philosophy.

demos for actual wii games would be very welcome, i have great difficulty deciding n what game too buy.

about time, I never buy psn games before trying out the demo (as a result still do not own Shatter thanks to no demo) This could push me over the edge on a few games I have been thinking about buying for awhile now!!

Yes.
Internet. Check
Demos. Check
Fix online. Next

Having demos is a two-edged sword, at least for the developer. There are plenty of XBLA games that I bought because the demo impressed me, but probably equally many that I wanted to play, but was turned off by the demo.

Overall though I think it is good for the platform since devs will have to spend more time on QA, knowing people will be able to try before they buy. Of course that's only if they become mandatory for all releases.

No demos are the main reason I would never buy a WiiWare game. If I cannot try it, I won't buy it.
