Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gamespot:Dragon Rising gets Best score on PC,Worst on Xbox 360!

From the review:-

"The differences between versions aren't limited to the interface. Dragon Age doesn't look amazing on the PC, but it's an attractive game nonetheless. Zooming from an isometric view to a third-person perspective is slick, and while environments don't hold up quite as well when viewed up close, they're consistently lovely when viewed from above. On the flip side, the Xbox 360 version looks positively disappointing. Textures are highly compressed and colors are washed out, though the upside is that this version maintains a smoother frame rate than on the PlayStation 3, where things might get jittery when swiveling the camera around. The PlayStation 3 version features higher-quality textures than those on the Xbox 360, better color saturation, smoother facial animations, and shorter load times. Minor visual hiccups, like corpses that disappear and reappear, are a bit more common on the PS3, however. The PC version is the superior experience, but if you're choosing between the two console releases, the PlayStation 3 has the upper hand. Some minor glitches are shared between the console versions, however, such as rare occasions when the soundtrack or voice-overs disappear. We also ran into a few quest malfunctions that could be replicated on all three platforms, though they were relatively minor and did not interfere with the progress of the main quest."

well doubt the graphics and stuff much noticable in console comparisons like every other comparision shown in mutliplat.

the only thign that would make me get ps3 over 360 is the faster load times.  Be nice if they clarified that though.  Like what is it 4 seconds to 5.  or is it like 5 second to 10 or something.  How much longer are load times.  Console comparrisons seem to take the most miniscule thing and try and turn it into the biggest thing.

well lucky for me i don't haveto worry about making that decision cause pc all the way for me.  I ain't got no 6k alienware like someone just got, but my pc can still push out more than either console can still.

The PS3 version being better than 360 is a surprise, but I can't think of any PC multiplats this gen that play or look worse on PC.

no kidding.  well actually i have heard a couple, but that was ones that were designed competely and made for console and hten just ported to pc.  who the hell ports to pc?

but the sad part of our industry is that it seems these console games are continually getting reviewed higher on the console than the pc.  THat is one thing the pc market has going for it, it isn't as corrupted yet in the reviewing process.  i'm not talking about ign, gamespy, ect who review all consoles and just copy paste reviews.  Hell i've read reviews for pc games that don't once discuss the controls pc wise, they talk about using buttons on controllers, lol. Cause they typically just slab on same score for all, with a .1 here or there just to bait flamewars.

but taking about only pc reviewing sites.  they seem to be pretty good and don't throw out 9+ very often.

Well most of games (Devil may Cry,Assassin's Creed etc) are around year old ports from consoles to Pc...
I can't say was Cod 4 best looking on Pc tho I got Ps3 and Pc version.

CoD4 absolutely looked best on PC. Not only that, but it didn't have nearly the graphical downgrade in online multiplayer the PS3 and 360 versions did, and five times the player cap.

What are some examples of games this generation that play or look worse on PC? Keep in mind that when I say "Play" I'm not refering to mouse and keyboard controls, since anyone can just plug in a gamepad (I know I do for some games).

GTA 4.
And I would say Street Fighter 4,NHL games are best on consoles.

@AdventWolf

It was a mistake that the OP made, he explained it and corrected it in the OP

Yeah I saw that, there was one other topic that said Rising and I didn't know what was going on lol.

@AdventWolf

That topic was kinda dumb, the guy got so much flak for it :P

SF4 runs better on PC, as does GTAIV after patching (admittedly this took over a month), but GTAIV also has extra stuff like the movie maker tool.

Yet again bioware has proven to be a top-notch game developer. :)

I've decided to get this on PC because of the future community mods and some reviewer said that it plays well with a mouse and keyboard.

I think Vlad said this earlier, but 1up appears to agree as well:

"Tactical combat is sadly stripped down for the consoles. In the PC version, you may use a handy top-down viewpoint of the battlefield. You can maneuver the camera above the characters on the console, but it doesn't scroll in and out. It's also more difficult to command characters to take specific positions on the battlefield, and I couldn't cast spells while paused. This really takes away from the combat -- it's a shame that console players again don't get the options that PC players enjoy. Console players aren't second-class citizens; they deserve the bells and whistles, too -- especially since they're paying $10 more for the game."

Sounds like PS3 AND 360 lose. Too bad, I read that though, as I have the 360 version sitting in my truck (too many people use my PC to give me any solid amount of time to play on it).
