SNES:
Well I choose it basically because I've had the opportunity to play more games on it. I've still played quite a few games on the PS1 but they didn't wow me enough I guess. Lens problems didn't help either. So I enjoyed the SNES more.

Fav games would be the usual...Zelda, Mario, Metroid. 3rd party would be Battletoads, MK2, Super Contra

What lens problem? I haven't heard of this before.

There's actually been a few lens issues with the PS1. Some burnt out prematurely, others would get off alignment, or the worst one, was that the lens would come up too far and scratch the disk. I did have one in that last category, and fortunately, caught it before it rendered the disk unreadable. (Hearing a scratching sound from the disk drive is never a good thing.)

Oh, I see now. Very true too, I went through 3 PS1s myself. It was just such a damn good console that I just sent it back and got replcaements.

Ahh, yea. Very true, i also had some disc scratching, but it wasn't that bad (i think, it's been awhile). Nothing beats the blow/wipe combo of the SNES though,

3 - PS1's wow...but i don't blame you, i'd keep buying them also, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, and Street Fighter would've been enough for me to keep going back.

Yeah, 3 it was. My first didn't show a picture the day I bought it. My second had a lens problem and I sent it in and they sent me a brand new one. That one has worked ever since.

Nice, i'm assuming you still have it? I have my SNES still, but my video cord is ruined :/  My PS1 is still alive, but I gave my cousin for his first system.

PS1 = my childhood console and still the greatest for me!

Oh God...

PSOne.

I'm sorry Nintendo. I thought long and hard, and I love you, but the PSOne just changed things so much. PS made gaming cool, it gave me MGS and the RE series. FF blew my mind and I have to mention Tony Hawk as well. PS brought CD quality sound. Only complaint would be the 2 controller ports. It really owned. Jeez - Wip3out. Mmmmm...

If N64 was here it might've been different, but vs the SNES there just is no contest for me.

To be honest, you're the first person I've heard of who had to blow in the SNES cartridges. I remember well those days on the NES.

And PS1's, well... my 4th is on the top of the entertainment center here. It's not hooked up, because it's dead. The only reason I went past my second one was for import games, but after 4, I bit the bullet and got a white Japanese PS2.

SNES

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The Playstation 1.

It changed the industry and turned things on their head. Introduced the CD to gaming, too.

And what a catalogue.

I vote PS1.

SNES.

Yeah, did anyone actually do that with the SNES? Just looked on a random IGN article:

When the SNES came out, I remember one of the big selling points for me was the fact that you didn’t have to blow into the games to have them work. I thought of it as some sort of new technology in much the way HD is a new feature in next-generation systems such as XBOX 360 and PS3
