Forums - General Discussion - Lady gaga makes music history

I like the music, but the lyrics could be better. >_> Congrats for her.

This is pretty cool, though.

Britney has written (or co-wrote) and acted as producer on several of her songs. She does not have everything manufactured for her. She also has an excellent natural voice.

Also, yes it does suck that society seems to frown on guys liking pop songs and it does suck how artificial all artists are becoming and who true talent seems to be near extinct. You just have to deal with it.

Anywho, well done Lady Gaga. She actually wrote a song for Britney's last album and is a Britney fan.

Now, can anyone tell me: Why does the USA have several different charts when virtually every other country just has one? It seems rather unnecessary. Would one chart be insufficient?

So does katy perry, but it depends on how they use it, and they use it horribly, which is why we got horrible vocals from them.

No, as much as I like the girls face, she sings like crap live, her songs are easy to sing for a girl and she has a lot of trouble doing it, I tolerate a bad singer(to some point) when he writes songs that have meaning. but this is not the case with katy perry.

I dont think todays music is crap, some artists I like are U2, muse, keane, radiohead, etc... I just think we are exposed to severly shitty music at least on TV, I have like 5 music channels and when Im watching to get to see some new music I get, 90% of rappers, pop girls, pop girls + rappers, reggaeton(a latin crap people listen here) and when the best you can get is greenday, Mika, linkin park, the killers or My chemical romance there is a problem.

I mean, I enjoy the last bands I wrote there, but they arent awesome bands like Queen, and other bad thing is that when I get to listen to those songs I wait for another good one and then the rappers and pop girls come back.

Other thing Ive noticed is that most bands that sound alright on studio/video sound like crap live, like My chemical romance, when you listen you get kind of surprised at the high notes the singer can get, but in live performances he cant do nearly the same.

Oh, and the last thing I wanna complain about is how people say old music was so much awesome, maybe it was, but there has always been crap, thats what most people like, or also, they elevate some artists to some legend status, like guns & roses, I mean, I have heard some people say Axl is a great singer, which he isnt, or Slash is the best guitarrist on earth, he was good, but there are dozens that are better.

She's my hero. I hate all new music but hers.

Can't say I'm a big pop fan (nothing but corporate write ups for generic artists) but I must say Lady Gaga has been able to make a nice little name for herself and definitely pretty well accomplished.

Now I really can't comment on her at all. To tell you the truth I've never even listened to ANY of her songs. I just don't listen to music like that haha. But I'm sure she does quite well with what she is given.

As for the society thing, I think that's a cop out. Society contradicts itself numerous times as it looks down on numerous things, even ones that seem to be competing against each other. So to really say men are polarized to not like pop music is kinda silly because they are then polarized to not like the opposites as well. People can like what they want if you ask me. I have my own opinions about pop music but still I can see how those could like... men and women alike. As long as I can listen to what I want its fine with me.

Only thing I ever ask is to only consider the good singers great and the not so great as the opposite. I mean I don't go flaring around that Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day has the best voice ever (although he really doesn't need to many computers to make him sound good) but that doesn't take away too much from the credibility of the band. Basically like who you want to like but respect the right people as well.

man leo u sure like gaga im curious to know wat u think of this artist though gaga is like old news now

She can't sing live, the girl you are showing me, but I love lady gaga because of her message, not because she is a techno pop artist.

wats her message?

In a nutshell, she applies to the F trio:

Fame, Fashion and Fucking

She really does make some great music though. The Fame was probably my favorite album to come out last year. I can't stand that old shit she did previously where she sounded like a Sarah Mclachlan ripoff though. Save that shit for the thousand other melancholy souls of acoustic bitch rock.

Why does the USA have so many different music charts when only one actually matters?

Because the major labels know it is easier to market a #1 Artist/Album, and they can encourage magazines to publish more charts and/or radio stations to play more countdowns ... #1 (on the new-age-alt-pop-rock-metal chart) sounds a lot better than #99 (on the all genres chart).

I'm not a fan of her music, but good on her.

From what I've seen, she's got a very good natural voice.

I agree with others though, I hate seeing people with naturally good voices ruin it through the use of stuff like autotune (hell even T-Pain's voice isn't THAT bad to warrant the autotune overkill).

You realize that the Pop chart has only been in existence for a few years while the larger billboard hot 100 is the US chart that is THE most popular singles in the country. Number one is 'Fireflies' by Owl City. Lady Gaga has only had two #1s on the billboard hot 100. Paparazzi is #6 this week.

just throwing this out there....

i HATE Owl City. Terrible song. That song is nothing but a blatant ripoff of the Postal Service. It is terrible

/end rant

Sorry for that. Go Gaga Go! I actually don't mind her that much and she uses sex to sell but not in the same way others do. She feels more like an artist to me then most other pop singers from the current day and age. She always seems interesting whether it's her music or her outrageous appearance.

Do you have a soul?

Yes. I also have taste in decent music and can sense a person trying to cash in on somebody elses sound. ;)

So by calling this song terrible (even though it sounds a lot like Postal Service), are you also calling PS terrible?
