It's really hard to give it to anyone but Nintendo. Their audience loves the games they make, and they stretch into so many genres every year.

@Rath-Nice list, but you forgot Spirit Tracks.

I don't know how that beats the list the OP made.

Nintendo - for wii sports resort - specifically the ping-pong. i like to pretend the ball is someone i hate when i hit it, like david tennent or one of my old teachers from college

From a reviewer.  Killzone 2, Infamous, Demon's Soul, and Flower have all had at least one reviewer give them a 7 or below as well.  Does that mena we should discredit them.

 

Aside from that silliness, I do think Sony has had quite a good list this year of titles they've published.  Definitely had some decent quality.  Before I could make a decision though I would need to go over all the main publishers to see what they have done and then make a decision as well.  I also think Nintendo has had quite a good year as well across Wii and DS and I'd put a few others as well but just going off speculation right now.

Mario Kart Wii got a 6 and it outsold all games mentioned in the OP... combined. What this shows is that critics get overruled by gamers and in the end that's what really matters: pleasing gamers, not reviewers.

It outsold all games combined? OMG greatest game ever! It doesn't matter that other companies put out quality games all the time, because Nintendo releases Mario Kart and it sold 16M or w/e, Nintendo is the best publisher.

I guess Cat Daddy Games is better than Sega because Carnival Games outsold MadWorld, Valkyria Chronicles, and House of the Dead: Overkill, combined
