Wii was only 54.58 M while the PS3 was 25.52 M so far...

PS3 DID outsell the Wii but only barely with onlt 30,000 sales greater than the Wii its not as SONY expects not to mention its only 100,000 greater then the 360. On lifetime sales the PS3 was still dead last. Though even Japan's sales stabilized after 50,000 weekly sales both Wii and PS3 sell only 20,000+.

So is the pricecut really worth it for both consoles or Malstrom was right? AGAIN...

In the end, I think the pricecut was worth it in terms of increasing userbase, thus selling more software. Though the pricecut is much better for the PS3 as it now in a more competetive pricerange, and it needed a userbase boost more than the Wii or the 360.

Uhm, considering the heaps of consoles that Sony sold after the price cut, I'd say it helped and will help. "only 100k in front of the 360" ... I remember when people were laughing that the 360 kept beating the PS3 with 20 to 30k each week. Funny.

Im not sure if increasing the userbase was the right term, more like a impulse buyer. And its natural, its always like this when a company pricecut their product whether you will need it or not afterwards. So we're not sure if the ones buying the Wii and PS3 because of the pricecut are really using the product.


But overall, seem the pricecut mania had fizzled. theres no hype or news on it afterwards. After 2 weeks its always like other every week when console sales were concerned. And we will know it in October NPD. If either of the 2 consoles didnt double or triple the sales after the pricecut the pricecut isnt worth it after all. Just remember, PS3 sells for about 490,000+ while the Wii sells 462,000.

I have issues with these statements.

It is double what is was last year, it is clearly worth it

Because if its only a month of surge of sales that wont help abit either on both companies. Both companies wants long term goal on their pricecut. SONY didnt redesign the PS3 and cut the price in half just for one month surge of sales.

Im talking about both the Wii and PS3 BTW... Though I admit the PS3 helps its sales atleast in japan.

If moving off the bottom of the weekly console sales charts and more than tripling sales from previous months isn't progressive (not helping) then I don't know what is.
