Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft respond to PS3 Netflix Announcement

selnor said:

For some who only play online yes I agree. But certainly the stability of playing online with Live shows over PSN. At least from my experience with the same connection disconnections on PSN are very frequent, but the same house with same speed can go hors with no loss on Live.

I'm not questioning the quality of the connection or server offer over the competition - though your mileage may vary, never had a disconnection while playing online with PSN over WiFi in the year I have had it and if I were offered an "improved" connection for money I wouldn't need it.

Just saying that the real value bringing most people to pay for live gold what they pay is the simple fact that it's mandatory to play online. Thus its value is artificially inflated and the adoption doesn't really tell how much people think that stability -or the extra features such as early demos- is worth in monetary terms. That is what your previous post seemed to state.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

LOL^^ hmm funny cause I've been playing KZ2 whole day with no lag or DC's maybe my ps3 is bless by the gods?

OT:hmmm well after the crossgame voice chat arrives next firmware update (according to ND) the only probable reason I see ppl paying $50 for XBL is cause of majority of their friends are there? can't be serious about paying $50 for twiter or facebook....either way I couldn't care less Im happy with PSN.

I'm still trying to figure out what makes Xbox Live a generation ahead of PlayStation Network. So far I've come up with Cross-Game Voice Chat, which is a feature confirmed to be coming to PSN. Then there is Cross-Game Invites which is an excellent feature. Finally there is Universal Custom Soundtracks which is a good improvement to Sony's sporadic list of games that support the feature through a number of different methods.

And that's all I can come up with. Hardly enough to be considered a generational leap for sure. Could anyone add to my list?

funny you should state that, people alway's ask why sony has not been able to impliment that function yet?

its very simple!

ITS LEGALITY!

"Microsoft patented the idea of In-Game custom soundtrack's before the PS3 even launched"

You don't need to have a Gold account to use Netflix on your 360.....

Since when?

Since always.

Are you sure?  Why did MS issue a press release saying they wouldn't drop the Xbox Live Gold requirement to use the service?

"The announcement that video streaming service Netflix would be headed to PlayStation 3 next month left many wondering if Microsoft would respond by dropping the Xbox Live Gold membership requirement to use the service on the Xbox 360."

The same way you could have been using Netflix on your PS3 this whole time without that silly little disc.  PlayOn via Windows Media Center.

I want Sony's responce to be the following...

"The Netflix experience on PlayStation is unique and reflects our commitment for social entertainment. We believe we offer an experience today that is a generation ahead of what others are offering."

"For free of charge, PlayStation Network membership is hands-down the best value in home entertainment, and gives you exclusive access multi-player gaming and early demos as well as Facebook, Twitter, the recently aquired Netflix service and billions more huge and popular content with our internet browser, not to forget the exclusive PlayStation Home, and much much more."

I mean Sony's responce to getting Netflix on PS3.

Basicly mimicing Microsoft's responce, with different words/services.

^But who seriously uses the PS3 web browser? And it isn't even fully compatible with Facebook, Last.fm, or many other sites.
