their doubt was very justified, but the game was just too good

Lol I didn't know where the hell to go when I first got it, but I was 6 years old.

Like many said, its perfectly understandable. I felt like a rat in a maze; I was stuck for good til i went online and found the map. Imagine if OOT didnt have a map.

I haven't played the game in forever, and I probably only remember where half the dungeons are. I wonder if I can do it without a map today. Game is crazy hard and confusing. It made me an expert cartographer when I was 5.

good thing Myamoto stuck to hsi guns

Miyamoto is a madman and a genius. "You want a game with no direction, and just a giant maze for a map? You want a game where all you do is pet a dog? You want an exercise game? How about a game all about jumping? Just jumping!?!??! AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!"

Gaming was very different back then.

What we take as common was unknown then.

Dungeon crawlers were straightforward affairs.

That is what made Zelda unique and why it is still around today.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I hate when people make threads about anything somebody says.

Ok, he´s myamoto. Its an interesting tidibit about one of the greatests franchises in gaming. But what da hell do we have to say about it?

Nothing. Because there´s nothing to debate. We just smile, nod our heads and move on. No need for a new thread.

That's not really surprising when you look at the big picture... after all, this is the same company that thought the real SMB 2 would be too hard for western audiences and decided to put Mario characters into a completely separate game and slap a "2" on it and call it a day.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Well, about the infamous SMB2J/DokiDokiPanic/SMB2USA issue, Nintendo of America was the one that did that, remember that they had a lot on their hands back then trying not to repeat Atari's history... So they did a lot of decisions that affected them later...

The Zelda thing was Miyamoto showing the game to Nintendo HQ, and they being afraid that even in Japan the game wouldn't work...
