Forums - Sony Discussion - Eyepet arrived today and after 2hrs of playing

And already we don't get on.

I admit a majority of it was my fault, I'd never used an eyetoy before so I wasn't sure what was happening and to add insult to injury, my room ain't exactly Ma-hoo-siff so it's kinda cramped but after much reshuffling I've got my tiny bedroom into a situation that the eyetoy/pet can recognise the goings on but it's still a headache as it often doesn't get what I'm trying to do.

When it's just you and the pet, everything is honky dory, the pet is very cute and loveable and it's very soothing stroking it to sleep and playing with it, it's just when you have to do challenges that frustration comes into play. Obviously the whole point of a challenge is to do things in a certain way to get a certain response but in a cramped space which may or may not play into depth perception of the eye pet it becomes more of a chore than a pleasure.

Anyway, I can hear the little guy's stomach rumbling so I have to go feed him, I'll write the rest of my opinions later when I get more time with it. I bought this with my bro in mind so I'll ask him to try it tomorrow and I'll tell you his opnions on the game.

So is it fun?

Have you played nintendogs before? And if so, how does it compare?

      I traded my Wii for a PS3  :)

Sorry, never played nintendogs before but I have played with Tamagochis and enjoyed those immensely, I have a feeling that if I was back at that age again and I fully understand what to do here I would be into this like white on eggs but right now, I think I'm the one with teething problems.

As for fun factor, skip out on challenges and you'll have a good time, I'm not an animal lover (I actually have a phobia) but this is like having a puppy running all over the place and the cuteness is kind of heart warming.

I can probably have hours of "fun" just waving my hands around and having Dogma (my pet) chase it around. But the main issues are depth perception, lighting (I had to place a lamp directly under the eyetoy to get it to work) and slightly intrusive challenges.

Woo...so much frustration...the challenges are a nightmare. The game tells me to take a picture of myself and my pet together looking like the best of friends. apart from having to get down and low on the ground thanks to my awkwardly spaced room this is quite difficult to do.

But now I'm on the ground, I'm told to take the picture I have to press start to get out of the start menu except this cancels the challenge so any picture I take is not recognised as part of the challenge ¬_¬.

I'm not sure I want my brother to play this now as he's probably gonna find it as confusing as me and I have to explain it to him which might be difficult as I have no idea what's wrong here.
