Forums - Nintendo Discussion - everyone here thinks that Ninty dont need 3rd parties on the wii?

Well for one thing, they could become EA and buy all third parties. But they didnt do that, they relies more on 2nd and 1st party titles instead. And since the Wii had launched, do they even need to? WSR, Wii Fit and Wii Sports alone can take the Wii a long way and make Nintendo profitable. Most third party games are just fillers in flood of all wii games out there. Its the Nintendo published titles that makes profit on the system anyway... Just seacrh the sute of million sellers on the wii. Most of them are Nintendo published games...

Third parties are always a welcome guest.

of course Nintendo doesn't need 3rd parties to make money ..
they arguably only need them to enrich/diversify the backcatalogue of their system(s), although obviously most of the consumers don't care about that as much as for example I do

Okie dokie, I would be glad to take away Monster Hunter 3 and shift it to ps3/PC support.

That's what happens when you don't want third parties.

I guess you can also take away your COD games.....house of the dead.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

My thoughts are that Nintendo made some business decisions over the last few generations and third parties shied away from their system. Now that the Wii is out, and currently dominating the sales charts, these other publishers have moved on to other systems. A majority of the games that they do decide to make for Wii are not given the full attention they deserve.

A second point, related more to the success of the third party games (Madworld, Dead Space, etc..) is that the gamers who would actually buy these games have also moved on to other systems over the last few generations to play the third party games that were taken elsewhere.

At this point I feel that Nintendo has some work to do in order to get the third party publishers and gamers back to the Nintendo console in the way they once were. Do I think this can happen during the Wii's lifetime? I doubt it.. There are enough complaints about the good third party games on the Wii by these other gamers and I am not sure how to convince them to give the games a chance.

I played Madworld in front of several of my friends and they were all really impressed and they all said "This is a Nintendo game? I actually like this game and will have to get it." To this day not one of them have bought it and they all own a Wii. They go out and buy like five games at a time for the 360 or PS3 and some of them don't get played for months but they won't go and buy one of the high quality Wii titles. One of them bought GTA4 when it released and FINALLY started playing this past week.

I am not sure what the solution is. I know that Nintendo releases awesome first and second party games and, in my opinion, those games are good enough to warrant the purchase of a Wii. The third party games are hit and miss but the ones that hit still hit good just like back in the day.

If im a casual gamer, (which im becoming right now) all i can say was you can  keep your COD and HOTD. If Nintendo was good at their customers AND THEY WILL they will just make a FPS or a on rail shooter to pleased the fanbase. But Nintendo dont need to do that, if the customers demanded it they will take action.

while certinaly not quite as big as the audience they're catering too now, droping third party support would be a horrible desicion for the system. Case in point ubisoft, while a lot of you did the "ubisoft ban" how many people buy those my pet games etc etc. All third party.

While im sure nintendo could have sold the wii off wii sports under their belt, they need that third party support for other things that add to it's library plethora just get eatin up along with it when people do get bored to keep them awaiting for the next nintendo game. Case in point Carnival games.

Good game? By my standards no.  Kept tons of people occupied inbetween? Yes, yes it did.

Their is a lot of random junk most of us don't even look at that has tons of others buying. Dropping third party support is a no no.

Nothing wrong with third parties developing games on the Wii and DS, but Nintendo shouldn't bother chasing them if they want to try and sell to the largest install base that's their business
