Forums - Sales Discussion - Dead Space Extraction is a MAJOR flop - we need to talk about it

Let us speak plainly.

Money talks. And when Carnival Games outsells Punchout, The Counduit, House of the dead Overkill, Dead Space: Extraction, No more Heroes, Tales of Symphonia, Okami and Fire Emblem COMBINED what sort of a message do you think that sends to third party developers?

Too bad there's no data on World of Goo though (Wii's only AAA rated third party exclusive).

And despite that, many core games are still on the Wii and many core games are coming to the Wii. I wonder how that must work out for you :(

Yeaaaaaaaaaah....I don't think companies are so close minded that one exception puts them down like you'd like (hope) to believe.

What is that based on and what does that mean?

Other mature games that sold "bad" on the wii...

Resident Evil 4 : Over 1,60 M
Red Steel: Over 1,2 M
Call of Duty 3 and WaW: Over 1,3 M
The House of The Dead 2, 3 Return: Over 1M
The House of the Dead Overkill: Over 400k (in less than a year)
Resident Evil UC: Over 1, 2 M
Metroid prime 3: Over 1,5 M

And other list of games that are not gore games but are mature as well like:

Guitar Hero series
Mario
Zelda
Pro evolution Soccer 2008
Sonic series
Monster Hunter
etc.

And with mature games on the horizon like No more Heroes 2, Silent Hill, Red Steel 2, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty Reflex, Fragile, Avatar, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Resident Evil Darkside Crhonicles, etc,

Obviously, not all mature games sell well on the wii, but a lot of them sells very very well. So please, EA, promote Dead Space, because people buy games only if they know that exists.

Such a shame. I bought it as I love the Dead Space universe.

The game is a total joy for a fan of the series and elevates on rail shooters to a new level.

Its really immersive and the graphics are stunning for the Wii.

If this means that there will be no more content like this put out by EA then Im disappointed.

How many of the games you listed are indeed rated M?

Red Steel, Call of Duty, and Metroid Prime are not rated M, which was the crux of the argument. I'd advise you understand what a mature rated game is before you start spouting off inaccuracies.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I was checking out a couple topics, in the MS section, and I see posts from folks that own a PS3, but not a 360.

Interesting.

Now, folks can see where the OP is coming from, huh? If I go into the Nintendo forum and see a person constantly posting there and they own a PC and a PSP, what in the world can they tell me?

It's a sales site. You don't need a console in order to be able to discuss demographics and sales figures. I wouldn't trust an idiot who owned a console over someone intellegent who didn't own that console.

I can agree to that. Not sure how it relates to this thread, though.

Ok mrstickball,

I accept your commets. But let me explain. I'm not from the US, I'm from Spain, and for me, a mature game means a game that can be played for adults or gamers that usually play with videogame because of the Challenge of the game itself. I mean, for the dificulty to finish the game. I'm refering to this kind of games. My mistake is to consider all the games I've listed "M". Sorry about this.

i dont have a problem with Dead space Wii itself, it deserves more sales definitely. However i'm having trouble with companies not delivering substance for the Wii, if u wanna make dead space on wii, dont let it be on rails! I think some wii gamers just got tired of it, easy as that

Well limited advertising, lot of people were angry it wasn't RE style (mad about it being on-rails), favorable but not specatcular reviews for great word of mouth, and just general disillusion with the wii userbase and the title. Did worse than even I thought it would but I never expected it to do well either.

I'm most curious that why everytime a Wii game does poorly it deserves discussion... every platform has it's successes and flops.  Either discuss them all or don't discuss any of them less you want to have a contradiction.
