Forums - Sales Discussion - UK stores are reporting a potential ps3 sell out

You said vgcharts reported this information. And none of these articles report that 500k were sold on launch day. So where is this vgcharts statistic? Also you claimed that UK pre-orders required a $150 deposit. Also you claimed that most parts of EUROPE u have to deposit $50/100/150 to do a pre-order, keyword being most. Just having a link to a couple of retailers is not a valid statistical reference. Here is precisely what you said: http://www.vgcharts.org/forum/thread.php?start=100&id=871 vgcharts itself is claiming around 500k to have been sold on the launch day...By the end of this week i expect to see something around a million. in UK you have to pay $150 in order to pre-order. but in most parts of EUROPE u have to deposit $50/100/150 to do a pre-order.

You're a liar and I've caught you red handed. You can't quote a source as factual information and then turn around and use other references. You said specifically that VGCHARTS provided this information. You didn't say you read a bunch of articles and extrapolated this information from different articles. And you haven't even addressed the claims made about deposits. You said "in UK you have to pay $150 in order to pre-order." You didn't say "in a UK store you have to pay $150 in order to pre-order." or "in some UK stores you have to pay $150 in order to pre-order." It's up to you to prove these claims.

I walked around town yesterday and every shop I looked in had signs saying "Pre-order a PS3, guaranteed for Lunch day for only £50" or words to that effect.

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

mridul/Washimul/Vengi, do you really think we are that stupid?

There are now 1000+ PS3s on Ebay and I've just watched some end, one was £460 with 2 games and an extra controller and another at £410 which didn't reach its reserve.

Did the Europeans learn nothing from the Ebay mess here in the states?

Europe is a huge market, and Playstation is a huge brand. Sony should have no problem selling the first 1million PS3's within a few days. I just checked out our local shopping centre (Melbourne). EB,Toys R Us, JBHiFi. All had heaps of PS3 promotions, and PS3 demo units. Didn't ask, but it looked like all stores all had stock available. Saw plenty of consumers checking it out - but no one who actually bought one (DS, PS2, PSP and other games were bought instead). I don't think its going to be huge here. One of my friends from work went to the launch at some store in the city - and said he was the only person there (so or he said). The challenge for Sony was never going to be the first mill (or even 2nd mill) - its the "other" units. (just spoke to one of my mates in Sydney - who has always been a Playstation boy - and to my surprised he has bought a Wii! Influenced by his girlfriend...).

the demand for ps3 in CANADA is phenomenal but are not available in large quantities.
Fat chance, I live in canada. They are selling them at costco. costco. yes you heard me. costco. (for anyone who doesn't know what costco is, its a massive wholesale store. The had at least 30 PS3's a month after launch sitting there. Most of my friends either have a Xbox 360 or are planning to get one. ( I have two friends with wii's and I know a guy with a PS3.) The xbox 360 is in much higher demand around here, or at least where I live, I check the sales of videogames in the newspaper and and the xbox has had the top 5 sales for the last month and the top selling for the last 4. Though I live in a fairly rich city so it might be diffrent elsewhere

Seriously, your attacks are not cool. If he was washimul I am pretty sure that the mods would have noticed.
