Honestly This was the first 3D zelda game i played and i heard so much hype from the zelda series, with only Minish Cap under my belt (which i did not enjoy that game). My friend would constantly say how he has been waiting years to play the game as he had it reserved for a few years. So the January after TP was released, my brother got his hands on a wii and purchased the game. I tried it out but the beginning was SO SLOW! Nothing important happened whatsoever! I put the game down after playing for maybe two hours. One day my friend challenged me to a race so i decided to pick it up again. I felt odd. I was forcing myself through the game. I didn't find any challenges in the enemies or the bosses. The puzzles were extremely annoying and there was TONS of backtracking. In all seriousness, i found that my battle strategy consisted of hitting "Z" then waggling and that's how i got through the fights. THAT IS NOT FUN! There was no skill or talent in defeating anything in the game and that really ruined it for me. I found it pointless to try in the fights. Then came the water temple....Nuff said? That was easily the most boring and annoying waste of time i have done in a video game, and i have beaten the first lord of the rings game! Could that boss even hurt you? I don't know cause all i had to do was "Z" then attack! I finally finished the water temple and said to my friend that they won. I wasn't going to play anymore of the game.
I have recently been wanting to go back and beat it just to do it so i asked my friend how much farther i had to go in the game. He said i was just under half way done with the game. I'm pretty sure that this game will rest easy in my drawer henceforth.
On another note, Presentation was very well done, as was the soundtrack, although many were repeats from other Zelda games, not like that's a bad thing.
I did not like the graphics and dark setting. Yes it was supposed to be dark for the shadow relm and hwhat-not but even the happy parts seemed depressing. And i HATED the character models. Most of the towns people look as if you took the Photoshop smudge tool and had a 3 year old go crazy on their face. Phew. But i didn't have a problem with the controls as a bonus.
Fortunately LOZ: Phantom Hourglass was able to redeem the Zelda name for me. IDK why but i love that game to death.
