So wait.

Dead Space sells 1.5 million+ and it's a failure, but MadWorld, The Conduit, Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes and Muramasa sell less than that combined... and they're all individual successes?

I think I'm gonna go ahead and develop a Wii game myself. Apparently they only cost a bag of peanuts to make and turn a profit no matter how badly they sell.

The only reason why people are claiming 1.5 was a "failure" is due to EA themselves coming out and saying they lost money which in the business world is a failed project. Sega has come out to say they were happy with the sales of The Conduit and Madworld at one point or another.  Suda 51 was really happy with how No More Heroes sold because it sold better than any of his past gameson the Gamecube and the PS2, which is why there's a sequel coming.

As for Zack and Wiki a couple of Capcom guys came out to say they were dissatisfied so that one can be seen as a failed project.

Some of the best ways to look at it budget vs profit and expected sales vs actual sales.  EA obviously was expecting more sales of Dead Space and lost money in failed on both ends, The Conduit and MadWorld didn't reach expected sales I'm certain but if they're making money the business is happy.  And No More Heroes surpassed sales and made money so Suda 51 is probably really happy.

When did EA ever say Dead Space lost money? The producer or something once said he wishes it sold more but was satisfied with what it did sell.

The wii is a wonderful machine, but dev costs are very low. Remember, its only slightly more powerful than an xbox, and most owners care about gameplay and not graphics.

The only expensive thing about making a game is graphics. it takes far more time and effort than any other part.

Solid netcode is actually another hard part. But making a 3d game for instance is far far far more work than a 2d game.

EA heads discussed how Mirror's Edge and Dead Space got good reviews, but sold under expectations. And as for the game comparisons, why are you comparing sales of an HD game to sales of Wii games, and not taking the development cost differentials into account?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

It's simply unreasonable to expect a third-party game to do well on Wii JUST because it recieved high-review scores.

Didn't work for Zak and Wiki

Didn't work for Mad World

Didn't work for NMH

Just face it, most game buyers (and yes, I mean the people who actually go buy games) don't read reviews.

Fixed, because this applies to all systems. Sure the best selling HD games often get high reviews, but not always, and those reviews often come more from pleasing critics (or some other less ethical methods).

People didn't buy GTA IV because of the reveiws. They bought it because it was another 3D world GTA game.

Demon's Souls say hi.

MLB09 The Show says hi

Uncharted 1 says hi

Kane & Lynch says hi

Need for Speed says hi

Sonic 06 says hi

It's a shame that Visceral games can't make a game that sells well.

WAIT

EXTRACTION SELL 1,5M COPY !!!!!!

Time to Work !

94 dollar is too much for a wii game, i only buy wii games for like 60 dollars max. (talking AUD). this game imo just isnt worth 94 dollars.

Dead Space wasn't a big success on PS360. Did anybody really expect a spinoff to sell on the Wii?
