Everytime the NPD reports come out I go over to NeoGAF to see the creative pictures they use to denote the chart performances and demoralize the console cheerleaders. It's fun to watch.

But I've noticed something about these cats. They are VERY narrow-minded and myopic about this industry.

They are SO caught up in defining something as hardcore and casual to the point that they MISS the point. This results in them reading the industry wrong and coming up with poor conclusions that continue to dumbfound them as further NPD reports come through.

They have become a mark for the business, to use some pro wrestling jargon. They believe in these artificial conventions built up over the years about the industry and its workings. Swearing by the holy word of "reviews" and "gameratings" and misreading what is flop and what is not, what is "game" and what is not. Oblivious to developing markets and curmudgeonly about new directions the industry is going in.

I find it very funny. Does anyone else think that these cats need to come down out of the treehouse for a little bit and get some fresh air?

Well in all honesty I think from an outsider looking in they appear to be narrow minded, maybe its because they all think the same way.

I'm going over there to have a Thomas Cook right now.

People have a crowd mentality. They lack intelegence and wisdom to research, think for themselves, form an indavidual opinion, etc. - They flock to the same, like-minded crowd.

Unfortunatly this is the world over and will be found everywhere. But once a site becomes stubborn in its ways, usually it will reflect the entire (or most of) attitude of the community/leadership.

However, this usually will not happen to sites that have people who are inteligent or have wisdom.

A lot of things I have learnt in the past, and just recently is that if a Leader of a group has major issues in dealing with person things, you will find that these issues flow out and affect the people they are leading.

Is EVERYBODY on NeoGAF narrow-minded?

I'll take a guess and say no, because massive generalisations are rarely correct and unarguably narrow-minded in their own right. This threads title is therefore delightfully ironic.
